Hi guys. Just wanted to share my first build experience. Bit of a mixed bag. I attempted a dual twisted kanthal 28 gauge build on Sapor Lush. Went a bit wrong. I calculated 7 wrap dual coil, 3mm inner should have got me about .35.

Here are the pics.

It ended up reading at .16 and I couldn't vape it without it getting far too hot... Just didn't feel safe. Built too low.

Anyway, took it all out. Went for a 5 wrap single coil. Hoping for .55. Here are the pics.

Reading at .6 and vaping nicely.

I think I may be using too much cotton to Wick though!

What do you think?

Maybe a silly question but when you did the calculation did you account for it being dual coil? So if it was a single it would've been closer to your calculation around .32

Hard to tell from the pic mate, you want to feel a bit of resistance when you're pulling the wick through the coil. Also make sure the wick isn't too tightly rolled. I cut the wick slightly bigger that the ID of the coil, so it just needed a light roll to allow it to pull through. It's something you have to play about with to get right. :)

I can't work out now if I'm using too much or too little now! How often should I be re dripping? And what wattage would you run the .6 at? It's shorting every so often on 35w.

Think I've solved the problem. Took out the other two screws I'd left in. No more shorts.
Nice job mate. If it vapes fine then the wicking is fine. Drippers are far more forgiving than tanks. I would put a little more space between the coil and the two centre posts. As you drip liquid build up between the coil and posts it can cause a short.

Thanks eyeball! I didn't think of that. I was a bit confused as to why it was shorting when I vaped it up right. If I tipped it on an angle it didn't. Teased it away from the pins a bit now and it's vsping lovely. Really enjoying dripping, nice to be able to change out my liquids so easily!

Looks like your sorted the problems but pretty tidy wrap, my first was a lot less pleasing to the eye! [emoji847]

Thanks Hamster. Coiled the wire, 3 strand with just a pen. Tied it and put it through the clip and just twisted. Did my wraps around a 3mm precision screwdriver, it's got a lip on the handle so you can push the end of the wire against it with your finger to get the coils tight against each other. I then dry fired it and squeezed with some pliers to get it nice and tight. I've spent the last week or so watching videos so got a few tips from various you tubers. Only thing I have a problem with is trying to get the screws in and out without a magnetic screwdriver/allen key!

You shouldn't need to take them right out mate (depending on the hole size/coil thickness/design, I suppose) I've never had to ... just unscrew them enough to make the hole big enough to get the wire though.
