Naive Watts question

The DNA200 will indeed hit 200w in TC Mode - if you keep to 0.12 ohms or lower, the info is there somewhere I just cannae for the life of me remember where I read it...

Yeah...i heard it does that out of the box, most people are going into escribe and reducing it to 100w aren't they?

You might as well reduce the ramp up time to its minimum and adjust the quality of the vape by the temp setting, after all, that is why you bought a TC device is it not?

I prefer a perceptible ramp up time, I find at 40 W on the rDNA40 it immediately punches hard and abruptly backs down. I prefer the smoother ride at 20-30 W (the pipeline pro 2 is smooth as silk in any setting though). This is with medium airflow/restricted lung inhale - I see now (post above) that higher power is better for higher airflow, but high airflow is not really my thing. I got TC devices because 6 months ago I was a novice builder struggling with dry hits in a kayfun clone, ramp up time has never been an issue for the way I vape. I'm not interested in sub-ohming on kanthal for now (never say never though...).

Ah, I found the discussion, it's 0.2 for 200w and 0.4 for 100w - Maximum Resistance for TC - DNA 200 Early Adopters Forum

The one people are reducing in Escribe is the Max wattage for the warm up boost, if you're running something like a Heron with a tiny chamber then punching 200w into it would be pretty hard on the coils and on the flavour - Like flooring the accelerator to drive 20 feet...

Interestingly, you dont mention the temp that you are vaping at...I suspect it is very low. It is my personal experience that TC works best with moderate to high AF...If the AF is too restricted the temperature builds up in the coil chamber and gives a very poor vape. Right at the moment I have a Ti build in a modded Kayfun V4 (moderate AF), two Subtank Minis (moderate AF and on RBA decks) and A Subtank Plus (high AF and on RBA deck). I am also running Ti in two RDA's, a Hobo V3.1 and a Velocity, both set to moderate AF. I use the same setting method as mentioned above on all these atty's.

The average draw on a vape would be between 3-5 seconds I would guess so at low power settings the coil will not reach temperature unless the AF is very restricted... it would then cut power leading to a poor vape. IMO small, light draws using M2L technique doesn't get the best out of TC devices.

I am getting very tempted to build a duel 18650 DNA200...I cant see myself ever needing more than 130-135watts.

To be honest you can get a 1300mah lipo in a box the size of the Snow wolf and thats dual 18650, My H Cigar VT200 is almost exactly the same size and I get at least the same battery life if not a little better.

Very true tubby, but I just wouldn't get enough run time even with the average 1300mah 3s....suits my needs best just to carry a couple of extra 18650's.

In that case - Use a bigger box and put a really beefy pack in there...

5000mah anyone?...Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 65~130C Lipo Pack

Lol......I built and own this if you remember, it's 6000mah!
