New vaper have I done the right thing?

Yes nic is an addiction, but better vaping than smoking. There are also much worse addictions than nic

Hello @Cl123 , Nice to meet you mate !!! Obviously we all think you've made the right decision, but ultimately it's down to you, and how you get on with Vaping !!!

Welcome - dont rush it, baby steps.Ask away we are here.

Hi

You may want to consider liquid containing nic salts, I’m a recent quitter and found you get the nic hit much quicker with them. Also I found I was vaping less than I used to smoke and still do even though I don’t use them anymore. Good luck anyway, it’s an amazing feeling to be an ex smoker

I've only vaped since Thursday so fingers crossed ☺️ what are nic salts? I've definitely been vaping more although I don't think it's excessive - I've used a bottle of liquid in a week (I have had 10 cigarettes in that time however none since Thursday)

I think the above link describes them pretty well. All vape shops and websites carry various brands and I’m sure plenty of people on here can recommend some goods ones. The only one I tried was the ohm brew Cuban which I liked. The only thing I’d say is to take it slow at first as I found I got a mad dizzy nic rush the first time as I vaped too much in one go, I was on 18mg though having ignored the advice to use a lower nic level

First of all good luck in achieving your end goal. Everyone has there own way of achieving it, what works for one may not work for another, and vice versa. The way I did it worked for me, even after 30 yrs of smoking and really enjoying a fag I found it to be relatively easy. Very early on I stopped comparing vaping to smoking, we are all very much creatures of habit and when you try and introduce something as a 'like for like' replacement the replacement never seems to live up to the thing you are replacing. Very much like the drinker who switches from special brew to low alcohol lager, you quite often revert back to what you know and love. It's a long-held belief and I firmly believe that the nicotine in cigarettes is not the thing that is most addictive, it's the routine involved in it. So for me, it was simple, I only found I craved cigarettes at times, or places, when I would usually smoke, which reinforces the notion that nicotine is not a particularly strong addiction, because if it was, the cravings would be apparent regardless of routine, which for me they weren't. So I initially vaped when I would have normally smoked and over time made it more random, like only on the work breaks when I fancied it, and not every single one out of regimented routine.
Remember every single one of us has been where you are now, and most have suffered the occasional hiccup, but what I would say, is the vast majority have found the journey, from one to the other, to be a worthwhile one and probably one of the best things you will ever do.

So I recently started smoking again (just last week) due to various life stressors, I almost immediately felt addicted again in fact even stronger and was back smoking the same levels as before I quit so I yesterday purchased an e cig, have I done the right thing? I've found that I've felt an improvement in my mental health since restarting smoking and therefore don't want to quit so I thought an e cig would be healthier as I have a child? Thanks
Absolutely, this can happen but the key is realizing you had a lapse in judgment.
