First of all good luck in achieving your end goal. Everyone has there own way of achieving it, what works for one may not work for another, and vice versa. The way I did it worked for me, even after 30 yrs of smoking and really enjoying a fag I found it to be relatively easy. Very early on I stopped comparing vaping to smoking, we are all very much creatures of habit and when you try and introduce something as a 'like for like' replacement the replacement never seems to live up to the thing you are replacing. Very much like the drinker who switches from special brew to low alcohol lager, you quite often revert back to what you know and love. It's a long-held belief and I firmly believe that the nicotine in cigarettes is not the thing that is most addictive, it's the routine involved in it. So for me, it was simple, I only found I craved cigarettes at times, or places, when I would usually smoke, which reinforces the notion that nicotine is not a particularly strong addiction, because if it was, the cravings would be apparent regardless of routine, which for me they weren't. So I initially vaped when I would have normally smoked and over time made it more random, like only on the work breaks when I fancied it, and not every single one out of regimented routine.
Remember every single one of us has been where you are now, and most have suffered the occasional hiccup, but what I would say, is the vast majority have found the journey, from one to the other, to be a worthwhile one and probably one of the best things you will ever do.
