What's new

new VAT rules for imports from 1st jan 2021

Interesting, any chance of a fuller explanation please?
You don't see too much On here as the mods are old hands and it gets moved on pretty quickly.
Members here are really good at asking questions (often on an angle you've missed which helps as most readers are sent via search engines and are not members so don't get to interact) and having a bit of daft banter but On certain forums and blogs it's awful.
you get new members all the time liking your old reviews in one hit, then follows the message that the item your giving away in the current "giveaway" would benefit them particularly due to (insert sad back story here).
They don't win.. It really is random. Next reviews are picked apart but with issue's brought up on poorly executed YouTube reviews (often picked apart by other "New" members with a surprisingly similar writing style and who share similar inexplicable issue's and watch the same YouTube reviews).
just one of the very obvious and tiresome repeat delights.

I'm assuming these changes are because the previous deals we had were European deals?
I take it we now have to negotiate our own trade agreements with China and the like so guess what's happening now will be subject to change based on any future international trade agreements?

i don’t think this would be affected by trade deals. it applies to all overseas sales despite us already having trade deals with some countries. i might be wrong though, anybody know more about this who can correct me?

Some EU specialist online retailers have said they will no longer deliver to the UK because of tax changes which came into force on 1 January.

Bicycle part firm Dutch Bike Bits said from now on, it would ship to every country in the world except the UK.

"We are forced by British policy to stop dealing with British customers," it said on its website.

Another firm, Belgium-based Beer On Web, said it was now shunning the UK "due to the new Brexit measures".

The companies are angry because they now face higher costs and increased bureaucracy in order to comply with UK tax authorities.

However, it is unclear how many have taken the drastic step of refusing all UK orders.

At the same time, international shipping companies including Federal Express and TNT have said they are levying additional charges on shipments between the UK and the EU.

They said this reflected the increased investment they had had to make in adjusting their systems to cope with Brexit.

I was just trying to order from lepetitvapoteur and there is no longer a "UK" option when you select the country for delivery - can anyone else confirm that its not just browser issues?
