What's new

OH FFS NOT AGAIN!!!!

I bought new batts this week. They came, as they always have in the past in my experience, with a full safety information leaflet.

Batteries are outside the TPD, so it'll do nothing about this situation, and the obvious reason is that battery safety is not vaping specific. Only the press seems interested in making this kind of incident vaping specific.

Oh yeah, that is actually true.

I am forgetful, so I apologise here.

Regarding battery safety, when people tell me I am going to blow up a favourite of mine is to ask do they use a laptop on their lap? When they say yes-I tell them you also have 9 or so 18650's in your laptop-right on your crown jewels. Laptops have set fire/blown up before.

That one usually shuts them up-it is generally the same types I get it from "laddish' blokes who have been out for a drink (No problem with that-I was an alcoholic), and just are in a group and are a bit aggressive. It doesn't happen often, but when it does that is my usual reply, I have tried explaining ohms law and battery safety, but it seems the crown jewels line works best at getting them to leave me alone.

I so want to comment on their board but can't be bothered with the jip that may come.

Nice to see the Daily Mail censoring comments, I wrote one in relation to battery safety and how it seemed lacking in this case, and they still haven't allowed it to post, 5 hours later.

Most definetely user error, Mod unharmed - batteries = toast.
TAKE NOTE PEOPLE - THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT LOOSE BATTERIES IN YOUR POCKET (OR HANDBAG)...

Yeah this tit has caused me grief when the wife read this in the paper... she was telling me that my D4 and mods were ticking time bombs that could blow up at any moment and that she didn't feel comfortable with having the charger on near her in the front room.
(Sexist alert: what the fuck was she doing out of the kitchen anyway?!? Titter)

I explained that if my batteries are not in a mod or the charger then they are in the plastic cases. There is a reason for this and the reason was depicted above. She's still not happy about it.

What I don't get (as the OP said) is the guy must be able to build his own coils and have a knowledge about battery safety otherwise he wouldn't have the kit he has, that is not newbie kit and requires some knowledge so why hasn't he yet turned around to the paper and said, "to be honest I have been told and have heard a lot about battery safety and I've neglected to follow some pretty basic rules here".

The counter argument is of course how many people have died/ building burned down because of lighters/lit fags butts and falling asleep etc etc etc with smoking and lighters.. He's lost a layer of skin, not his life.

Grrr

Some could argue that he should have lost a little more than the skin on his leg. I hoped he would have lost his eyebrows (forever) if I'm honest, having to look like a tit after a self inflicted accident is far worse. :lol1:

You're right, it could have been a hell of a lot worse.

It won't count as self inflicted, it will be seen as a poor unfortunate soul who got suckered by the evil unregulated vape paraphernalia...

More than likely yes but those in the know *taps nose* know better
