Pfizer given protection from legal action by UK government

Does this "During vaccine roll-out, there is an important opportunity to gather immunological and viral load data to assess the impact of vaccination on transmission in settings such as care homes"
Suggest while undergoing vaccination it's possible to transmit Covid?

no, i think it means what it says, they can gather the data as they roll out the vaccine to allow them to do a comparative analysis.

obviously it is possible for it to be transmitted during vaccination, though. something else i read identified the people doing the vaccinations as a priority to be vaccinated themselves.

People working in those areas have been informed they may have to wait for the vaccine a little longer

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-for-covid-vaccine-despite-fear-of-third-wave

this is true we know that care home staff and residents will get the vaccine first this is a correct thing to do to protect the most vulnerable in the first wave the levels of death swept through care homes the staff don't wear the same level of protection mainly because it's not possible to work and attend a multitude of people without getting through loads of ppe wearing full PPE to take it off seconds later to see the next person to put it back on is not viable you cant do it.

I expect the first thing conspiracy people do is say the government are testing the vaccine on the old folk as if they die from complications from the vaccine it's ok, for real that's the most stupid statement as what would you say if it was the case, I can just see it "50 million pensioners die from the covid vaccine"

it's quite simple really have the vaccine and protect yourself and your family or don't have it and hope you don't get ill and don't die

at the end of the day, you have to jabs to go to certain countries to soak up the sun on holiday I don't see newspaper headlines over protests about that

edit care home staff, social care, HCA's, domiciliary staff are the hardest working lowest paid people out there, (average pay £8.50 per hour they do a job that all the other people won't do from personal care to mental health they care for the unwanted and abandoned at the end of the day we will all end up in a care home unless you have lots of cash

around 12m pensioners & with the pension rising unlikely to hit 50m

think most of the jabs demanding proof for entry into country
are for Yellow fever and perhaps Malaria if travelling from an at risk country area according to WHO
which I don't think the UK is there just yet
other than that you have option for your choice or choose not to travel to that area

atm the travel industry is somewhat fucked regardless with BA selling off its wares
and Virgin 747 offering a dinning experience sitting on the Heathrow tarmac before it is scrapped

picking apart my post proves what that it's not a good idea we should wait till we have more data if the vaccine is 100% safe for every soul on the planet it won't be, how long are you going to wait for 6 months 6 weeks till your sure, I'm sick and tired of hearing about the vaccine could be or could not be bad, "I won't have it because it might cause death", this comes from people at home that just go out to the shops or work in a place that's not seen covid if those people want a fun ride to sign up as a HCA you don't need qualifications then after your first shift you will have the vaccine 100%

My original post to your mention if you walked past an ICU...

well some NHS staff may have to wait a little longer & quoted the Guardian than a far right article
there was nothing else in that post, other than some people working in that ICU etc...
may not receive the vaccine straight away - is basically all I said
(I'm trying to be mindful not to trigger people if possible, but at the same time a civil debate is required
or it becomes mostly a one sided echo chamber if people all mostly agree on everything)

totally agree, wait for more results and data etc...
but at the same time people are asking questions, some fruitcakes, some nut jobs
but some have valid concerns/questions and civil debate is required than bicker & arguing

for the record I personally know 2 HCA's for the elderly
(well one is driver to the old folks to/from home/centres)
other is a visiting care worker for half a dozen elderly patients requiring help at home
I'll ask them if they are looking to get the vaccine asap next time I speak/see them perhaps
but my gut feeling is they are likely to be undecided still perhaps

and for the record I work in one of the highest risk areas - supermarket/grocery industry...

In total, 9,789 common places were reported, with the PHE results below showing the most frequent:

  • Supermarket – 18.3%
  • Secondary school – 12.7%
  • Primary school – 10.1%
  • Hospital – 3.6%
  • Care home – 2.8%
  • College – 2.4%
  • Warehouse – 2.2%
  • Nursery preschool – 1.8%
  • Pub or bar – 1.6%
  • Hospitality – 1.5%
  • University – 1.4%
  • Manufacture engineering – 1.4%
  • Household fewer than five – 1.2%
  • General practice – 1.1%
  • Gym – 1.1%
  • Restaurant or cafe – 1.0%

so the question is are you having the vaccine

Ok and the reason is?

you put all these articles saying about the facts the guardian etc but you won’t have a vaccine to protect your self or the people that go to your supermarket you would rather risk it but you work in the highest risk area for transmission

what is the scientific reason to say it’s unsafe, not “I have a choice” everyone has that what is the reason the thing that is factual trust in the company is also not an issue as there will be 4 or 6 other companies

A few points;

The phrasing of the article is extremely leading, nigh on click bait. As mentioned, this is common practice but has made it sound like some kind of dodgy dealing. I think there are far more dodgy things that this government has done in its response to the pandemic that we should be looking at.

While vaccines don’t have the risk factors that we see in other medications, it’s ok for people to question whether it’s wise to have the vaccine. Consent is important and it’s ok to ask questions. We should look to evidence for answers. Those who are happy to have it will provide the evidence that will help others make decisions. You cannot arrive at complete conclusions from incomplete data.

I’m sure some people will disagree with this. Lots of people are mentioning their friends in the health services, but it’s not cut and dried for those working in these sectors. They are asking the same questions and opinion is just as divided.

And for clarity; I’m a registered nurse and have worked throughout this pandemic. My colleagues and I have discussed the vaccine a great deal. As community nurses we have been there in the care homes. I have many friends that work in a huge range of settings and specialisms within hospitals and other areas of practice. I myself am about to transfer to work in a hospice which is a designated ‘hot’ ward.

Ultimately, personal choice is key. A lot is being made of the extreme conspiracy theory/anti-vaccine stuff, but for me, most people are just asking questions because they want to make the right choice.
