Prebuilt Coils

I normally make my own coils but every now and then I buy some pre built exotic ones.

I recently bought some coiloligy ones, (MTL aliens, fused Clapton, etc) but I never seem to get the resistance they should be e.g. 0.84 alien is actually showing up as 0.40 on multiple devices.

I have played around with coil height, tightened and loosened screws but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong or are the coils themselves to blame?

If being used as dual coil, the resistance is halved. 0.8ohm coils X 2 would be 0.4ohm

No not dual. Using a KFLite amongst others

I have had similar issues in the past, always seemed to have to put another wrap or two on the coil.

Are you dry burning your coils first and raking them to get rid of hot spots?

No I didn't actually. I normally make spaced so didn't think of that

You could space them slightly if you're not keen on the dry burning thing.

Yeah read that's not good... I might try that but would be a delicate procedure not unraveling them. I'll give that a try. Thanks

I dry burn my contact coils all the time. It barely needs any fettling with a simple coil. However, it needs a lot more with some of these fancy coils.

Are they Ni? They tend to read low until you've bedded them in
