RBA vs pre-built - Please explain

As i said, there wasn't mesh for making your coils in the past. :)

this stuff has been about for years it’s the same idea

Ooh that's got my attention. Can you still get them?

You can, but I wouldn't recommend it. I have a Theorem RTA that was designed to take them (the RTA was a bit of a disaster because of silly mistakes but the flavour wasn't bad)

The problem with them is time hasn't been kind. Although I'm not particularly a mesh fan, when I got a Nest Mesh RDA I dug out my Theorem and put in a fresh build just out of curiosity to compare it to the Nest. It wasn't even close, the Nest was way better - even though I had to drip on the Nest it was worth the extra hassle.

Time hasn't been kind to the notch coils, although they seemed good to me at the time - time hasn't been kind, 2017 was a long time ago, and a regular mesh atty is simply better.

i have seen packs of Wismec Theorem notch coils on eBay, but if you're tempted - don't pay much for them lol.

So you have to have a specific atty for that kind of coil. I'll give it a miss then. Thank you

No - you can fit them in any atty that can house a 5mm diameter coil - there is a length of round-wire at each end so you can bend the wires and clamp it as you would any regular coil. Personally I would leave them in the past as they weren't that good lol.

There weren't any when i was building my own. Now I've found my sweet spot with Vaporesso mesh coils, and i don't want to go down another rabbit hole chasing a perfect vape. :)
I slightly agree. I am rebuildable guy for the last 4ish years, and I enjoy it. But I've tried some mesh stock coils which are great, so I'm starting to wonder. I still enjoy rebuildables, but mesh stock coil are a very good thing. I think I have the learned fear of stock coils (dry hit, dragon fart inhale lol!).

Hi @Reti

On your point about the manufacturer knows best I would disagree with that. Nobody knows your individual pallette as well as you do.

Think of a home cooked recipe versus a pre-made meal you get from a shop. RBA's give you massively more flexibility to tinker and make little changes that help you perfect your build to your own individual preferences to get the absolute peak performance from your vape. Stock coils give you just a few different coils to choose from whereas I can have almost limitless ways of varying my build. For me, the improvement in flavour since changing from stock coils to rebuildables has been like a different universe.

You said you want intense flavour which is what I'm into also. With a rebuildable there is lots of ways you can get there depending on what hits the spot for you. I've managed to get my vape to a point where I don't think there is any possibility a stock coil could ever match it. What is more the cost is only a fraction of the cost of a pack of stock coils.

It's also a lot of fun learning and tinkering and trying different things. Test out different things and see what works for you.

Most of all enjoy the journey and good luck. :14:

I totally agree. I don't use stock coils apart from my little emergency Aspire Gotek pod kit. When I have tried stock coils, I'm usually put off by the noise, heat or harshness. Using mesh strips I've perfected my style. I get what I need to keep me happy.

that comparison would work for mixing your own liquid. in this context the comparison would be making your own diy cooking utensils.

I suppose if you plan to eat the cooking utensils.

In my view it's what comes through the drip tip. Each time you make little changes to your build it has an effect on the the amount and the quality of the vapour that's produced and there are lots of different things you can do with the type and material of your coil, what cotton you use, single or dual coil the type of RBA, how you set the coil and how you prepare your cotton. Then, of course you have to factor in which juice you're using with it. All those factors are your ingredients and it's about looking for the perfect combination and finding that perfect recipe to get the ultimate vape.
