RBA vs pre-built - Please explain

I suppose if you plan to eat the cooking utensils.

In my view it's what comes through the drip tip. Each time you make little changes to your build it has an effect on the the amount and the quality of the vapour that's produced and there are lots of different things you can do with the type and material of your coil, what cotton you use, single or dual coil the type of RBA, how you set the coil and how you prepare your cotton. Then, of course you have to factor in which juice you're using with it. All those factors are your ingredients and it's about looking for the perfect combination and finding that perfect recipe to get the ultimate vape.

This is probably why some people say a Tank is good and others say it's rubbish. I tend to build Tanks pretty much the same way obviously a bit different because of the build deck but similar in respect to Coil position and airflow, i like the Coil sat right in the centre of the Airflow, Mesh is easier because it can only be positioned in the same place for everyone, so if you get a poor vape with Mesh it has to be the wicking. Don't think i have had a poor tasting Mesh Vape unless the juice is shite, which i have had plenty of, plus certain juice can ruin a build in less than a couple of days. I won't name brands and flavours but i have found it happen a lot with certain liquids. I only MTL using round Coils and really don't get any issues apart from Gunking up Cotton which is easily resolved. Some Liquid should be sold with free Coils and Cotton imo.

It probably comes down to how much you can be arsed fiddling with things.
I have a low tolerance. :)

Some you need to fiddle around with to get a decent vape while others not so much. I can usually get it pretty much spot on for the majority of my builds. I think the only RTA i struggled with was the ETHER, for me that was a proper pain. Can't think of any others off the top of my head though there probably have been.

There's a lot of truth in that. Some people get a lot of pleasure out of all the tinkering and experimenting. For others it's more about whether they have enough spare time and how much they are willing to put into it.

I’m a stock coiler.
Yes, there would seem be a good fiddle period. And that’s once you’ve decided on the tank, and the coil wire, and the cotton….. And once you’ve got it “just so”, re-coiling and wicking does not seem to be as easy as replacing a stock coil.
I run 5 mods - one each with my 4 favoured juices and one with a “guest” juice. They get regularly rotated - sometimes 3 or 4 being used on the same day.
The idea of moving to building my own has some appeal/fascination but the fiddling to get it right doesn’t appeal - and neither do the maths tbh.
I’d need (at least) 5 set ups and invest in the rebuilding “bits” (build station, scissors, snips, tweezers, screwdrivers etc etc)
At a very conservative level, that wouldn’t give me any change out of about 200 notes - and that buys me an awful lot of coils.
Vaping with stock coils gives me a good flavour and has got me off the ciggies and the amount I’ve already saved is mind boggling - how on earth did I ever afford to smoke???

Not dissing rebuilding, just flying the flag for us humble stock coil users ;)

I actually like the fiddling and hobby aspect of rebuilding ....plus ..a roll of vandy vape ss316 mesh is under a fiver"hundreds of rebuilds in one roll"
Muji is cheap as hell and a pack can last year's

Savings are substantial ...I think I'm of Yorkshire descent lol

I quite like the fiddling about. You notice after a period of time you fiddle less due to experience, unless it's a new RTA that you haven't used before the majority of builds are fiddle free. I accept that Stock Coils are faster but you also have to factor in buying duds and fakes also the expense. Takes me round about 5-10 minutes to put a build in an RTA. With Stock Coils, for the time it takes to fit and Prime a coil i could have a build in a RTA. There are pro's and cons to both Stock and Pre-made but i know which i prefer.

Multi screwdriver - £2
Bag of cotton - £5
Coil of wire -£3
Dozens of coils and wicks.

Pack of 5 coils -£10?

Yes, there is a learning curve and a bit of fiddling around but the savings are immense. Not to mention that when you get it right the flavour from rebuildables far exceeds any stock coil. I keep a couple of stock coil atties for holidays coz I can't be arsed rebuilding and I'm normally too wasted. They're ok but nothing like a decent RTA or RDA.

The thing is there aren't really any wrong answers here.

Each to their own. Whatever works for people and they are happy with then go with that and don't worry about what everyone else is doing.

I'll take that thought one step further to it's logical conclusion, this whole thread is easily ignorable...
