RBA vs pre-built - Please explain

Multi screwdriver - £2
Bag of cotton - £5
Coil of wire -£3
Dozens of coils and wicks.

Pack of 5 coils -£10?

Yes, there is a learning curve and a bit of fiddling around but the savings are immense. Not to mention that when you get it right the flavour from rebuildables far exceeds any stock coil. I keep a couple of stock coil atties for holidays coz I can't be arsed rebuilding and I'm normally too wasted. They're ok but nothing like a decent RTA or RDA.
Plus build deck, scissors, snips ….
Certainly not disputing the potential cost savings. But the minimum up & running costs would buy me well in excess of 100 coils - that would last me a goodly while ;)
Those initial costs assume a £25-ish tank/deck. I think that is erring on the conservative side.
In an ideal world, someone would do a build for me and put it in one of my BBs, and the other BB would have a stock coil. Both would have the same juice and I’d do a blind test. But that is unlikely to happen; so for the foreseeable, it’ll stick with what I know, what I like/have grown accustomed to and reap the significant savings I am already making. One day, maybe ……

As @MarylinC37 has said. Whatever floats your boat. The majority of rta's come with a little screwdriver so there's £2 saved for a pair of scissors. [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Whatever suits and got you off and keeps you off fags is best and will save you loads of money though contracting shinyitus and venturing down rabbit holes can temper that.

I use stock coil tanks and rtas. Yeah you have to spend a bit on rebuilding gear but it didn't cost me much, maybe £40 all in or 4 packs of stock coils. I bought a decent pair of scissors, a set of small Phillips screwdrivers, a set of small torx screwdrivers that came with a couple of pairs of tweezers and a coilmaster coiling jig to make my own coils. I already had a set of small slot head screwdrivers and use an old NX30 mod as a build deck. Thereafter cotton and wire is pennies compared to a pack of stock coils.

I do like some certain stock coils don't get me wrong, i love the Augvape Intake and the Coils last me ages but i can't justify the expense. i am also a fan of the Aspire BVC Coils especially the .07. Love the Nautilus 3 as well. You have an initial payout for equipment when rebuilding then it's just buying cotton and wire.

I suppose if you plan to eat the cooking utensils.

i don’t, but i don’t eat coils either though. what i mean is that inyour analogy, the liquid recipe is the ingredients. the attie, coil etc are the utensils. like in your other thread about a kettle.

you don’t need to buy any of that.

sensible folk just build on a mod. you’re sure to have scissors lying about the house and somebody’s toenail clippers will suffice for cutting wire. you could even get away with an old sock instead of the bag of cotton :)

Me too, I'm not even buying cotton and wire.. I bought £20 worth of fibre freaks when they were selling off at creme years ago and I still have many years worth left. I'm also still using 30ft rolls of UD 28awg SS that I bought from Fasttech for a few dollars each years ago. I haven't spent a penny on that stuff for years now and won't be for years either.

I can't justify buying stock coils, when I can essentially vape for free now. When I have to clean all my corollas and start coiling them again, I wish I vaped stock coils but that's only once every 16 weeks or so though.

I had everything I needed lying about and made a coil tool out of a brush handle. But I've not resorted to using a sock...just yet! Do you have a recommendation on what socks work best?

To avoid using socks for wicking, but to keep my expenditure as low as possible..,.

I got into the habit of adding a spool of wire, a tub of coils or a pack of cotton any time I made an online order if it bumped the price into the magical free post zone. on many occasions it was actually cheaper to buy the original item with an extra item of building supplies than pay the postage. When it wasn't the extra cost was minimal. As I buy a lot of stuff I ended up with loads of rebuildable supplies and probably have enough to last for 5 years. In the last two years I've only bought a pack of labo puff cotton and some packs of exotic coils - not because I needed them - they were being sold dirt cheap and I bought through curiosity because I'd never tried them before.

You will still have to buy initial supplies for your first rebuildable, but if adding a few bits to your initial order gets you into the free post zone then you can get enough to start with pretty cheap.
