RBA vs pre-built - Please explain

it was a genuine question. i spent a fiver on a bag of organic japanese labo cotton in 2017 and i’m still using it now. but you know what they say about a fool and his money :)

Fools and money?

Aren't we the same geniuses that thought taking up smoking at some point in the past was a good idea despite knowing the downsides before we did it?

Ah OK. Everyone on here who uses vape cotton is a fool in your opinion. I'm sure everyone will be delighted to know that's what you think.

All the diplomacy of a cricket bat in the face.

aye, but also, cotton is one of the most traded commodities on earth. every type of cotton you can imagine already exists. i’m sure it was discovered that one of the well known ones is actually repackaged dental cotton, might be a thread on here from years back.

As cotton is a major factor in a vape, some folks who can be arsed will blend cottons to seek to improve on say the pads..... I've tried lots of cotton, in lots of atties, no doubt some cotton works (wicks) better in some atties than others.
If you have only really ever used labo pads, then you won't know.
Muji and labo are fine, but other cottons do a better wicking job in some atties.....I think cotton is one of the reasons people struggle with wicking, the choice is vast. they are not all the same, get the right cotton for your attie and it can make a difference.

nothing troll about it, it is a valid subject to discuss.

i wouldn’t have had you down as somebody that believes everything that is printed on the back of a wee chinese package, but if you think these companies have labs staffed with scientists discovering new types of cotton wool specifically for use in vape tanks, then fair enough :)

if you're asking why we don't all follow you and chose to use labo puff/muji because it is more expensive then you should have asked that question. As it is you're just being obtuse.

i also have a pack of Labo Puff, big whoop.

i buy other types just to try them out, or in the case of laces - for convenience when I want to build as quickly as possible. yes i know i can build a single coil mtl deck in less than a minute but sometimes things like a dual 9 wrap series build or a triple coil DL RDA can take a bit of tweaking before things are ready and saving a bit of time with the wicking is welcome, but for most builds I'll use Labo/Muji.

like it or not some cotton packs are specifically designed for vaping - pre-determined thicknesses for different diameter coils and 'shoelace ends' for speed and convenience. it doesn't matter if the cotton used is just cotton - it is specifically packaged for a single task - and that is wicking coils of a specific diameter, that is why it is cotton specifically for vaping. You could use it for other purposes - but if you did you'd probably be a bit of a twat

The first two packs of cotton I pulled out of my stash

Cotton Bacon Prime - by WICK AND VAPE. OK not conclusive but a really big clue.

Pack no 2, Vapefly Firebolt Cotton. Again Vapefly is a bit of a clue but not absolutely conclusive. But if you look at the back of the pack you will read that it is "Specifically formulated for vaping" - and under features the first thing you will read is "Re-wick your coils in seconds"

I get it, it's Sunday and things are a bit quiet, but surely you already have Troll Badge?

It's just Zou's way of entertaining himself. He's our little keyboard warrior who loves roaming the boards looking for opportunities to try and start his little flame wars.

It's just Zou being Zou. It's a boring Sunday and he probably wants to liven up the place a bit. He's got a heart of gold really. Bless his little cotton socks.

Apparently he uses those for wicking his coils. I've never tried vaping cheese flavour before. :18:

I don't think he copes well with choices ...vanilla ice cream....one scoop...absolutely no need for anything else, he's a man who likes what he knows ,and knows what he likes:D

Cotton isn't made it's grown then manufactured for vaping.

*developed.

aye, that’s why i said there is every kind of cotton you can imagine, already existing. i’ve used other kinds of cotton, but these days use labo because it works perfectly so there is no need to buy any other.

what i find hard to believe is that there are forms of cotton wool that have been specially developed to work in atomisers. it would be a fools errand to employ scientists and a lab to make something that undoubtedly already exists, when you could just buy it by the pallet load for a few quid, then split up into separate little packages, give it a daft name and make a fortune.

maybe what they mean, by specially developed for vaping, is they cut it into wee strips and glued a shoelace thing on the end. :)
