RBA's - Idiots guide?

It’s only just occurred to that me I don’t actually know the correct way/best way of rebuilding my RBA’s (Fogger v4 and Lemo).

I just came across some calculators online (Steam Engine) and didn’t appreciate the science behind it. I tend to watch a video of ‘how to rewick the X RBA’ etc. and follow that.

For instance once calculator says ‘what is my target resistance’? I’ve never thought about it bar 8 wraps on a 2mm and hope for the best.

How do I gauge what the best setup for my RBA’s is apart from trial and error?

Get a decent battery
Use an ohm meter
Have a basic understanding of ohms law
Know the limits of your battery
Trial and error to find what coil/setup suits you
USE AN OHM METER!

It's always better to be safe than set on fire due to an unexpected short or fault in you calculations.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ what he says!

Go thro' review threads and find out what other do in their tanks, then give it a go and see if it works for you.

Using steam Engine the sweet spot for device is 0.5 ohms.

Therefore the coil setup is

Trial and error then? No science?

No need to look at that page. As the other guys have said, it's trial and error and staying within safety limits, so use the coil wrapping tab to find some builds.

You also need to consider your mod. Mechs won't fire much above 1.2 ohms but regulated you can go much higher.

Consider whether you want a thick or thin wick, instant firing coils.

For example, if I'm using a high nic juice for mouth-to-lung, I'll use a thin wire for an instant short hit.

For lung hits, I'll use a thicker wire around a thicker wick that will take longer to heat up but will give me a long draw without burning.

Play around with it, every tank, juice and person are different.

Everyone's tastes are different. I like an extremely warm-hot vape with a dense cloud whereas others may like a cooler vape with more of a throat hit.

There is no "correct" way to build on a given device but there are limitations like deck size, airflow, post holes etc.

Get yourself a variety of atties and see which you like best, you can then focus on that type of device until you find that perfect setup for YOU :)

It's a learning curve for sure but it is extremely fun as long as you take the time to ensure you're doing it safely.

I should have added, refer to the ohms law page once you've got the spec for your build to see if it's within the safety limits of your battery.

What mod and battery do you have?

Okay. TBH most coil setups I try seem pretty much the same performance wise. Certainly not noticeable. I have the right batteries for the device as the manufacturer told me what to buy. The device tells me the resistance of the coils etc. I can build from 0.6 on the fogger to 2.4 single.

Therefore for the purposes of this question I take it the steam page can be disregarded?
