Apologies for copying the Beeb's headline, it's late, I'm tired! Over 50 health researchers and scientists have signed a letter to the WHO urging them to re-think their current negative attitude to e-cigarettes and vaping.

More and more sensible and well-researched articles articles and papers are coming out about the benefits of vaping and the use of PVs/e-cigs over smoking, and their use in smoking cessation (as well as daft straw man arguments put forth by so-called scientists and health officials who really should know better).

This is really a bit of a placeholder post amongst other things, as I'd lined up various articles from the last couple of days, but not yet written anything properly - many apologies!

None of these articles say that "despite our great, indepth knowledge of what drastic harm tobacco does, we have a bigger axe to grind, we don't care if you live or die, we want your cash. The electronic cigarette and it's exponential growth frightens the life out of big pharma and many a tobacco company who haven't yet affiliated themselves with electronic cigarette companies, the fact that people are reasoning for themselves also worries us tremendously. Our best course of action is to apply as much TAR and hope it sticks, if not, PROPAGANDA will do for now" - Such articles mean nothing to true vapers, but brought to the attention of the every day smoker, they are trying to smack people in the face by causing terrifying scaremongery, it doesn't mean that because tobacco cigarettes are on sale virtually everywhere, that they are safe, it just means that every 50p on a pack goes to the supermarket, petrol station, corner shop etc and the rest into the pockets of the Government who don't spend a penny on research for smoke related illnesses! Think about it.
The World Health Organisation do very little for World Health.

The tobacco companies are certainly paying off a lot of people at the moment.

The tobacco companies have to, they've already admitted publicly that they see the end of a tobacco era by the end of this decade, how can their businesses revitilise themselves if they don't have a foothold in both industries (a) selling tobacco still because not everyone will turn to e-cigarettes and (b) for those who do, they know they are a better alternative, so they have to keep appealing to both markets, plus that means if the end of the tobacco era is imminent, they have a sharehold/future in e-cigarettes and their profits will boom. It's a mere 18 months ago when tobacco companies were spending endless millions on propaganda on dissing the e-cigarette and also vapers, but they came to a decision "if you can't beat them, join them". As for the World Health Organisation, they have so many financial ties with pharmaceuticals, and unfortunately the pharmaceuticals are doing exactly what big tobacco did, running story after story of every blown battery, over and over again (they don't mention user error), but their propaganda is making some serious headway, these are companies which are cash rich and debt free.

I won't buy my e-liquid from a pharmacy, I won't be told what to do by WHO, the MHRA, I have the same amount of freedom to drink a cup of coffee as I do to drink a bottle of Whisky - why the downer on e-cigs? Because it's revenue lost, not just on ineffective nicotine replacement therapies but all the cures needed to enable the pharma to HELP the people who are dying from smoke related illness.

Featuring quite heavily on BBC breakfast news on BBC1 this morning.

BBC cannot appear to have an agenda so they have to balance articles.

Having said that they've had generally pro-vape articles recently.

The weirdest thing about that one is why is a professor of the faculty of hygiene and tropical medicine spouting off about vaping?

How's the coverage on bbc1 looking?
