What's new

RTA is leaking...this can't be right

Probably need to learn more about coils. I just see people with the most humongous coils with complex wrappings thinking that must be better than a tiny one...

You need the right coils for the tank - MTL tanks generally have very small enclosed build decks, tight restrictive air inlets and are normally used at relatively low power settings, shoehorning a large coil in there will cause nothing but problems. Similarly putting a tiny coil in a larger DTL tank won't work too well as it won't be able to take higher power levels required and the resulting vape from the lower nic juice and increased airflow will probably be too weak and airy.

There isn't really a 'best' type of coil, much is down to personal preference, but you do have to have the right sized coils to make DL and MTL tanks work at their best.

Another thing i have learned, just to piggyback on what crispycritters said, the shorter the wick the better (as in from coil to juice), try not to create any tight bends in ithe wick, make sure it glows even

All that kinda fundamental stuff make much more of a difference then the additional juice trapped in the crevices which is what those fancy coils are made to do

(In the right tank tho, wicked corectly, personally, i think they make a huge diff than awg, between alien and clapton and whatever else, i dunno, maybe)

This is why I said yesterday, those Firebolt 2.5mm cotton threads would be too thick for an MTL coil :2thumbsup:

I totally agree. Here's my airy MTL build on the Brunhilde.. 0.5 ohms, 4 wraps of an Ni80 fused clapton, 2*28/38. Not a large coil at all, but a lovely vape.
