the title says it all but is there anything I can do to stop meters of wire just unraveling from a spool?
It’s impossible to wind it back on the spool and I’ve cut lengths of it and put it in a carrier bag in the cupboard for now.
What do you guys do to cut the chances of this wire unraveling as your building your coils

I use elastic bands and hold the end of the wire in a slot in the edge of the spool.
The last time I saw a thread like this, quite a few folk were using tape to hold the end of the wire to the spool.
I thing spool tamers, elastic bands, slots in spool and/or tape covered most methods used.

Easy, a bit of tape on the side of the spool, like @oldhippydude says. It’s almost free if you already have some duct tape or similar in the house. It works perfectly.
