TC - a first disappointment

I checked the Ti microcoil in my Lemo drop this morning as it's been in there for about 10 days and had at least 30 ml of liquid through it - pleasantly surprised to find the coil and wick in excellent nick. Didn't even bother rewicking. I'm using a Koopor 60w TC which fires at 50w to hit temp then regulates the temp - it's working great at 450f.

Finally, something approaching a success. Have given up on Ni200 for now.

Received some Resitherm wire from danb , top ape that he is! This wire is thinner than I'm used to, but it was OK to shape.
0.28 NiFe30, dual standard coils, 7 wraps of 2.4mm ID producing initial 0.179ohms in the Goblin Mini. Temp at 500F initially, 30J and still tinkering.
Nice flavour and decent clouds. The D2 rattlesnakes away and I'm quite enjoying it. Once you reset your expectations about the relative coolness of the vape this TC lark isn't too bad.

So far, Ive not had a better TC vape than kanthal but I'll stick with it for a while.
Ive not been able to vape at anywhere near the temps that others use, 360° at about 30 joules and I get a real funky taste and my wick is going brown.
Im doing something wrong or the dreaded hotwraps are spoiling the show.

After a few mishits I've got Ni200 running nicely in my Velocity. Twin .13 spaced coils, been in there for about a week and both the coil and wicks are clean.

Its a bit cooler than I'd really like, but it does stop me taking the back of my head off when I forget to drip

Glad you're enjoying the wire. I'm considering binning my Ni200, as this stuff is way better. It's fine in a subtank mini, but the idea of attempting a dual coil with Ni200 does not appeal to me at all.

By the way, stealthvape are now selling a NiFe30 wire with a similar TCR to Ni (whereas Dicodes Resistherm is close to Ti). The stealthvape stuff is available in a full range of thicknesses and at a sensible price. There was a thread a bout it recently and I got an email alert from stealthvape saying it is now in stock. Might be worth a look, it's on my to order list.

As far as gunking of coils goes, I've had a Resistherm dual coil build in my Billow for 3 weeks now. It's had at least 60 mL through it and I have not even had to re-wick it, let alone recoil it. It's a DIY pineapple liquorice juice which I suspect is quite a clean juice anyway. I normally vape around 215 ^oC/420 ^oF (in what is essentially Ti mode), so quite a bit cooler than you.

I had another crack with a couple of TC mods and finally sussed out where Ive been going wrong.
A couple of wraps touching can really throw things out of whack.
0.15ohm spaced coil at 410°/40 joules and its a rattlin away like it should, funky taste is gone.

Well I'm glad I read this thread, I came here to ask how long people's coils are lasting with TC as I got a evic mini today.

Still not sure if I trust Ni, I might get some Ti wire....

Any progress Scrumpz?

Not really, I've been distracted by trying different kanthal builds in the Aromamizer RDTA, no time for messing further with Ti ... maybe next week.

Stuff Ti, Niffy the Wonder Wire is what you need, Just wobble on over to Stealthvape and pop a couple of reels of his NiFe30 in your basket, cheaper than ti, easier to work with and far less twitchy...
