As the title says I am a total and utter noooooooooobbbbbbbbb at DIY so please forgive all dumb, stupid and probably asked a million times before questions lol

As I didn't have a clue where to start finding everything separate ( plus I am very very lazy ) I bought this starter kit

DIY Mixing Kit Gold

Got myself a 10ml of green apple and 10ml of bullhorn (my 2 fav flavours of shop bought juice) both Capella

Mixed up a batch of green apple 50/50 14mg 20% flavour and it tastes like crap well that's a bit harsh it doesn't really taste of anything and that's the problem I know I am used to 70pg 30vg (shop bought) juice but surely that 20% shouldn't mean I taste nothing

Should add I have left it for 24hrs in a dark place lid off before tasting

Any advice about what I should do

I generally leave anything i mix steeping for a few days. Once i have a mix i like i steep in warm water, i've found this can be done off and on over a few days, when not steeping keep warm and in a dark place, airing cupboard is what i use. keep going back to the mix, take the lid off shake and squeeze air out. Colour, aroma and taste may improve with a good day or 2 steeping. I also like to put a few drops of Ethyl Maltol in my fruit mixes.
Theres lots of different ways to steep, from how long to where to store with no real right or wrong as long as the liquid is warm and kept in dark.

You may have over flavoured it, i know it sounds contradictory but sometimes more concentrate equals less taste.

Try adding 5ml of your apple liquid to 5ml of unflavoured liquid (both at same pg/vg and nic) and see if the taste is more focused.

Will try that can't be any worse than it is right now lol

there is no hard and fast rule for %'s....the guide is just that.
with fruits i found the best way was to start at 5% and add 1-2% everyday till its too your liking..
i use capella apple at 6-7%...with 1drop em and 1 sweetener per 10ml.

That 7% goes for fruit mixes as well....for the most anyway..
Dragonfruit and harvest berry i can push it up to 10%

So maybe I have over flavoured it as I started at 20% and not knowing what I was doing have added more flavour

note: my chest's quite sensitive to sharp stuff(fruits and menthols)
but start low and work your way up...
the only thing that i've found so far to use in big %'s is custard(15%)..and dragonfruit(10%)
With Anything sharp you can use em to soften the flavour...3drops per 10ml ..at the very max
Custards and creams are better with sweetener if required.

got the exact same kit last week, having good results with it so far. vanilla custard15% marshmallow5% worked great from the capella range.
also tried a key lime pie which was not so good think i also overflavoured, ive had another go at it but not tried it yet marshmallow3% pie crust4% key lime6%
its had 2 days so gonna try in the morning and just add afew drops each day 1 flavour at a time till i get to a nice level.

I use Capella green apple in lots of my juices,I never add over 10% more often it's just 5% though there's often several other flavours in with it too.

Leaving the lid off during steeping can also mute flavours, by all means take the lid off and give the bottle a little squeeze to exchange the air in it, but then put the lid back on.
