UK Gov To Ban Disposables?

Well that's as clear as mud. Good that it sounds like we have the opportunity to air our views in another consultation. The last one was a complete waste of 2hrs of my life.
Did you read the whole thing, hijacked by non vapers and vape haters imo

If 51% disagreed then why are Government pushing the flavour ban thing, vapers in their many 10s of 1000s' will need to respond to the new consultation on flavours, otherwise the vape haters will win again. Probably makes no difference with a labour Goverment incoming, half the shadow cabinet and that psycho Streeting want to ban vaping anyway.

If the problem is with kids getting hooked on nicotine, why put restrictions on shortfills, this is going from the sublime to the ridiculous, they haven`t got a fcuking clue.

It's wait and see time and no amount of dicussion is going to change the governments plans. I see lots of people stressing out about this which really isn't good for your state of mind. I am still of the opinion that if whatever vaping decisions affect the way i vape then i will just go back to smoking with an Inscription on my Grave Stone thanking the UK Government for all their help.

I filled out the original consultation and went through the results of it and came to the same conclusions as you. I also sent extracts of the consultation with my responses to my local MP. Fat lot of good that did.

Sadly as always the consultation process really is only a tick in the box exercise and its obvious from the results that their minds were made up irrespective of the findings.

Someone was asking about the impact of the proposed legislation on shortfills:

Government response

While the market for non-nicotine vapes is currently a fraction of the overall vape market, the use of non-nicotine vapes and other consumer nicotine products is increasing among young people and younger men. This consultation feedback shows widespread support for regulating non-nicotine vapes and other consumer nicotine products under a similar regulatory framework as nicotine vapes. The UK Government will seek to introduce a range of regulatory making powers to protect young people from these products.

For non-nicotine vapes, the UK Government will impose age of sale restrictions to those aged 18 or above, ban the purchase of these products by others for those who are under 18 and ban the free distribution of these products (for example, samples). The UK Government also intends to bring forward regulations which will extend all these restrictions to other nicotine products (for example, pouches).

The UK Government also intends to include non-nicotine vapes and other consumer nicotine products in the scope of future regulations to:

  • restrict flavours
  • restrict point of sale display and packaging and product presentation
  • enable FPNs to be issued as part of enforcement
  • close the potential for loopholes that could undermine our wider mission to reduce the appeal and accessibility of vapes to children
This will mean all consumer nicotine products and non-nicotine vapes are covered under a similar regulatory framework. Before any regulations are made, there would be an assessment of the impact of the proposed legislation and further consultation.
...........

This will mean all consumer nicotine products and non-nicotine vapes are covered under a similar regulatory framework.

Is this gonna be the end of shortfills? Depends what they mean by "covered under a similar regulatory framework." If non nicotine vape liquid is treated the same as eliquid with nic then shortfills would be limited to the legal 10ml maximum size :hmm:

The phrase '"For non-nicotine vapes, the UK Government will impose age of sale restrictions to those aged 18 or above" sounds like the new smoking age ban that raises the legal age by a year every year, aka vaping is going to be regulated like smoking.

I think for the hobbyists like ourselves here it shouldn't effect us too drastically. I have enough hardware and ingredients to last me a lifetime. I would never go back to smoking.
I take great offence with the way this is being handled and the lies that's coming from the powers that be.

The floodgates have opened, it's the blind leading the blind now.

There are estimated to be 4.5m vapers in the UK yet here we have legislation being 'based' on 27,000 responses to questions in a consultation.

You really must stop thinking logically. The governments will use whatever means they have to reach their end objective.
Environmental Impact
Bright colours and images and kiddie flavours
Nicotine addiction
Health impact
Mental wellbeing
The list goes on and on.

They will completely ignore the millions of legit businesses and vapers who have successfully quite smoking because of vaping.
