UK Gov To Ban Disposables?

I do know one person who hadn't smoked for well over 20 years but was tempted by the disposable boom because of their simplicity and attractive flavours.

Why ain't the cunts banning fags then ?

The ultimate "disposable" nicotene delivery system

Now, there is a good question…

Is it the lost tax revenue? Alienating smokers from voting for them? Is vaping just an easy target, with less financial backing, and therefore less money to contribute? Is it because the Tory MPs’ servants all smoke, and they’re afraid for their welfare?

Help me out, here. I know that in the US, as part of their court settlement, the tobacco companies all pay a huge amount of money to the individual states as compensation for smoking’s health consequences. Does the UK have a similar arrangement? Is it both the tax revenues and this type of yearly payouts? It would explain a lot :hmm:

i think it’s as simple as this: people have been smoking forever. it’s much harder to ban stuff that is very much culturally engrained.

because if i took to doing that i wouldn’t have enough time to do the other things that need attended to.
(Off topic I know) but maybe it's worth making time for...

I clear up stuff, and do things the Council should be sorting out, on a frequent basis, because they bother me more than "it's not up to me to do" or waiting for the Council to sort out...
But I did get annoyed when I cleared up some discarded asbestos, and then get charged (at the tip) for the privilege!

A more balanced article from the Beeb -
How dangerous is vaping - and why the concern over young vapers?

Though the bit mentioning popcorn lung was lacking context -
Another health issue only occurs with illegal vape products. Diacetyl, a flavouring that can be used in e-liquids but is banned in the UK, is associated with the serious lung disease bronchiolitis obliterans, otherwise known as "popcorn lung".
i.e. at least a bit of context that the link is very tenuous -
https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/causes-of-cancer/does-vaping-cause-popcorn-lung
A possible link has been suggested between the disease and a chemical called diacetyl. More research is needed to find out if they’re connected.
Some of the liquids in e-cigarettes used to contain diacetyl. This led to the idea that e-cigarettes might cause popcorn lung. In the UK, diacetyl was banned in e-cigarette liquids under the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) in 2016. So, e-liquids sold in the UK shouldn’t contain diacetyl.
And there have been no confirmed cases of popcorn lung linked to e-cigarettes.

In fact, I don't think that popcorn lung should even be mentioned as a possible health issue connected to vaping at all...

at times it is very bad about here, there are a lot of student and a thoughtless minority of them seem to just want to dump stuff at their arse (often disposable vapes). spoilt, i guess. or have never lived in the real world.

the council have introduced an app for reporting fly tipping, overflowing bins and suchlike. they do generally come and sort it out when you report stuff: maybe they think they need to target their resources at thing people are actively not happy about, rather than just generally keeping the place clean.

our resident news hound put this as a news article quote

"Labour
Labour's Angela Rayner told Sky News that she wishes she could “kick the habit” of vaping, telling the channel that her children call her “The Vape Dragon”.

She said: “I wish I could give up vaping. I'm going to do my utmost to make sure that I do that. And young people need to know that vaping is not a way forward and they should not get addicted to it because it is incredibly addictive and costly as well. So, they need to stop."

she was spotted smoking in 2021

so 12 months to 2 years vaping and she wishes she could give it up?

when I gave up smoking two years later I was proud to be an ex-smoker Thanks to vaping 12 years later I still am

perhaps she should go back to the fags.... problem solved
