I don’t even think it’s disposables that have been the catalyst in the sense of the product itself, more so where it’s sold. The corner shops give not one shiny shit whether they make money off a bag of sugar, a loaf of bread or a disposable vape. Or who they sell it to in some cases. Plus the awareness of what they’re actually selling is probably minimal, or the amount they’re prepared understand is not worth a jot. A good proportion of the reason for the surge in popularity is the ease of availability. Vapes should be sold in a vape shop to protect the integrity of the industry I think. I know you get dodgy B and M’s too, but i would rationale that the level of education of the person selling them in a vape shop is at least a little higher than a counter assistant in Spar.
But my very first vape, albeit for a few weeks, was a cigalike. A cigalike is a disposable, and I’ll bets lots on here first used one of those? I moved onto a pen type mod and tank quite quickly after visiting a vape shop, but my catalyst for swapping from cigarettes was a disposable.
They have their place in our world imo. Just not like this. But as a catalyst to help that first step, that initial swap, then I think they need to be kept. A new vaper that has just switched could well find filling a tank from a bottle too much grief to want to bother in the first place. 8 years ago, I would have. I had to learn to quite enjoy a vape instead of a smoke, and it was an e-lites that made me do that.
