The threads on my vamo top cap are kaput so i've pulled out the insides .

While pulling it out i've managed to chip the cap on whatever companent is shown on the right in this pic , i'm not at all au fait with electrics but i'm assuming the two components are something to do with stepping the voltage up and down ?

I just thought it would be preudent to check if it's still ok to use if anyone could advise .

Thanks .

Try it & see?

I doubt that chipping the plastic off that component will have knackered it though,it does look like all you've done is break off a small section of the separator/moulding.

Cheers guys i might wire it up and try it i know the board still actually works as i'e already connected it to a battery .

I've got a tin i was just going to make a little mech with but i thought as the vamo was dead anyway i might as well utilise the board as i don't tend to use mechs and more .

I need all the same parts for a mech as i do for a mod with the board in there so i'll order them and then wire it with and if i dies it can just be pulled out .

I would also try it and see, you could also try it by running the main + & - to the battery and see if it starts up before fitting it to the tin.

Also if you want to wire up the + & - buttons here is how i done mine

Ive done that mate it all appears to be working

cheers for the pic i was going to just mount the board inside the tine and then leave it so it had to be opened to adjust the voltage/wattage but i may wire them to the outside while i' at it even if i leave the display inside .

How have you mounted the board inside yours? .

Thanks mate that's a cool looking old tin I think I'll follow suit and chop a window in , I was hoping to find a prewired 510 but I should have a broken ego somewhere to canabalise wire it all up then order a battery holder .

Cheers

I did check first to make sure the board will fit sideways lol
My tin is 25mm thick

Oh and good luck, its really rewarding :-)

You have just damaged the plastic coil former of an inductor (maybe a transformer) and unless you have moved or damaged the windings (copper wire loops) then electrically it is as good as it ever was. But top marks for asking when you weren't sure.

I assume you mean this bit
