Vape Tax.. we all knew it was coming

nothing ever came of the tpd police. measuring tank capacity, getting warrants to have a look in people’s freezers etc.

If the only threat is from trading standards, I wouldn`t worry too much seeing as they are the outfit that has been so slack in keeping disposables out of the hands of kids.

It's amusing that the answer to this underage vaping 'epidemic' is to introduce more regulations when the relevant authorities seem incapable of enforcing the current ones.

I think it's a fantastic idea to make it illegal to sell vapes to anyone under the age of 18, why didnt anyone think of that before! That will sort all the problems out.

Labour will gold plate whatever legislation the Tories introduce, fucked either way, esp, those finding their way to vaping in the future, plus the smaller artisan liquid producers/ vendors. Total Armageddon will be taxing hardware the same as liquid.

Part of the proposal is further enforcement action and tougher penalties.
I'm really dreading this to be honest. Right now, once you're set up and you have all the gear, it's quite cheap to maintain vaping. Like realistically someone could vape for £7-12 a week incl coils and liquids. If they add a load of tax on etc that could go up to like £20-25 a week which for many, purely cost wise; they may as well go back to smoking tobacco.
I am however holding out on easily being able to obtain what I need from foreign sources online if they do something really stupid like banning nice flavours (though as has been discussed, it would be incredibly difficult for them to do that what with flavour concentrates etc being freely available for the food industry).

I was a heavy smoker, and would get through 30 fags a day, and 60 on a Friday and Saturday. I've no idea what a pack costs these days, but would probably smoke 12 packs a week.
I'm now less than £30 a week vaping, so any tax would still leave me saving a fortune. I don't know how i managed to afford to smoke.

I smoked rolling tobacco had I bought legitimate tobacco from a shop I'd have spent about £27 per week.
A pack of cigs these days is about £10.50 for a cheap brand or about £12 for something like Benson and Hedges. Tobacco is about £33 for 50g for a decent brand though I got mine from a guy who imported loads from Turkey for £12 for 50g lol.

I still consider £30 a week quite expensive for vaping. What's costing you that much? You can get two 100ml bottles of Kingston liquids from eBay for £10.

I was also a heavy smoker. About 40 a day. That would be something like £8000 per year if I bought them in a shop but actual spend would be about half of that. I've just calculated my spend on vape juice per year. I make my own and go through about 200ml per week. Including Pg,vg, flavouring and 0.5%nic my annual spend is about £80.

I chain vape, so get through 30-50 ml a day. So maybe 3 x 100ml shortfills a week plus coils.
