Vape Tax.. we all knew it was coming

This is very interesting about how it actually seems to favour disposables
Yup, as one comment there said, they used the calculation wrong in the article, and the outcome is even worse:
£2.20 per 10ml means that 2ml in disposable will be taxed just £0.44, not £4.40.

oh yeah! I would guess a blanket £2.20 per 10ml will include anything up to 10ml... so 2ml will be £2.20? or have they said somewhere 44p?
either way still ridiculous to say they want to target disposables then hit the DIY market so much worse

I dont know what 10ml of 18mg liquid equates to in terms of fags smoked but my 0.6mg (DTL) to 4mg (MTL, pods) most certainly does not equate to 100 fags

There is no way that 10ml of eliquid is equivalent to 50g of hand rolling tobacco

I commented an hour ago saying i thought it would be £2.20 but just went to check the post again and looks like darkstar have edited the article to say 44p - so yeah that's so much worse

Tax is due on 16.5 per cent of the retail price of a pack if 20 cigarettes plus £6.63.

So £2.58 + £6.63 = £9.21 total tax on the average cost of 20 @ £15.67.

Which in real terms equates to roughly 58.77% is tax.

The big mistake they've made is equating 10ml to 20 cigarettes.

Will they realise? No!
Will they be educated? No!
Do they care? No!

Does it not depend on how you look at it?
As an ex 25 a day smoker, I now vape no more than 2ml/6mg a day MTL 50/50 and am a happy bunny.
So, I could look at 10ml being the equivalent of around 125 cigs.

Absolutely.
So in real terms a 60% hike on a £5 10ml seems far less mean that a 220% hike on a £1 10ml.
Makes perfect sense as usual.

Yours will be at the low end of daily consumption, mine at the highest: mesh rtas, upto 60ml a day. As for how one looks at it, it's impossible not to conclude that, when combined with the proposed tobacco and vapes bill it's a decapitation - the death of vaping as was. Labour hate vaping, they always have, it's taken them a mere few months to come up with a masterplan for vaping's destruction.

We also dont yet know what they might have planned for hardware, tax wise. The likes of ecigone, who's gonna buy from them, if people cant afford to buy the liquid that goes into their purchased tanks and pods. People who mtl might be ok, but there are plenty of sub ohmers, people who dtl or even rdtl, they're gonna be fucked.
