What's new

Vaping is under threat

I agree entirely.

Where's the ban on people's kids polluting my ears in restaurants and pretty much every other public place...

Whilst the above is tongue in cheek, the point is that nobody is 100% happy with everything people do, but society requires a certain amount of give and take to co-exist, and keep coming up with petit laws to micro manage problems that basically don't really exist is just a huge waste of resources.

If I was David Cameron I would be much more concerned with what I was going to do once I run out of places in Syria to drop bombs on and how I was going to justify sending in 100,000 ground troops and then once that has run its course getting all of the refugees back to their homes...

That said.. Maybe if I was tasked with that, I might put it off for a while and busy myself with vaping instead...

yep, we have stocked up on goodies batteries tanks boxes & signed the TW legal challenage too
as my son, hubby & i have not touched a nasty ciggy for 6 months now we love vaping all them friuty flavours.
Why do the government have to try spoiling a good thing when it smacks them in the face, when after all they are the ones that tell us we must stop, just look at all the adds & health warnings that they say must be on fag packets & the supermarkets/shops must have covered up selling points, I fully understand the fact that minors must be protected from the harm that smoking does after all i have kids myself, but i do feel that this government are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites that are fretting over the taxes that they will lose rather than help us protect our health.
rant over lol :) :)

If you are reading this there is a good chance that you are new to the world of vaping, so firstly WELCOME to the community :welcome1:

Vaping has been around since 2006, and has increased greatly in popularity. Vaping is what is known as a 'disruptive technology' - it developed outside the normal channels by which consumer products are brought to the market. As a result of that it has been largely unregulated, but this is about to change.

In every country across the world governments are introducing regulations. In some countries these are extremely restrictive, to the point where the purchase of vaping products is banned. In others there has so far been a somewhat more enlightened approach.

Now don't get me wrong, regulations with regards to vaping are not all bad - in fact I would go as far as to say that some regulation is essential. The key is that the regulation needs to be proportionate, and a ban on vaping or purchasing vaping products most definitely is not that.

Now before you all run around screaming like chickens with their heads cut off, all is not lost. There are a large and varied range of campaigns, lobbying and legal actions taking place. These aim to shape regulation in a way that protects people from shoddy products and prevents the purchase of products by children, but still allows vaping to exist and grow and fulfil its potential AND YOU CAN HELP.

I have listed some of the most important actions and organisations (imo) that are fighting on behalf of vaping, along with links that allow you to sign up and show your support, add your name to a petition, or otherwise get involved. If you want to take it further and become an active vaping advocate there are lots of opportunities within the organisations listed.

Of course it's under threat. Vaping is costing big tobacco money and big tobacco pays people to tell the government to do crap. These go by the name lobbyists but a more apt name is crooks or middle men.
But it doesn't stop there, in most countries around 50% of the cost of smoking goes directly to the governments. Thus even if they are not being bribed and bullied by big tobacco they have an incentive to make vaping go away if they can and if they can't to make it incredibly unpopular.
Just today I read an obviously bullock excrement article in the daily telegraph, boy was I shocked, you don't expect toadying and propaganda from a newspaper with such a good reputation, faux news yea I wouldn't be at all shocked but the god damn telegraph!!!
The woman basically says since switching from smoking to vaping her life went to sht and goes on about how she wished she never tried vaping, if she hates it so much buy some damn cigarettes and leave vaping to the more evolved adults.

Yes. It's not like the sun or mail.
It's a more reliable and less biased paper (understand those terms in journalism are relative lol).

I beg to differ, it's utter bigoted gash. Last year its chief political writer resigned accusing the paper of perpetrating a fraud on the readership in covering up banking scandals. It has been staunchly bias and twists the news to favour its vested interests. Like the Mail, it divested itself of quality journalists for those with "an interest" in journalism in order to chase clicks on the internet. Shoddy, dangerous and borderline criminal - I'm not shocked by any of the guff carried on its pages.
