Erm if you remember rightly I started teaching them on the gish tour and he had a hand paisley painted 70s strat. Someone not saying who fitted his second strats with lace sensors as he was pissed off with trying to control those pickups from squealing like pigs at every small gig.

yes, he has quite a collection!! ... there's a picture floating around the internet somewhere, I remember seeing several years ago. ... never owned a vintage one myself but I did build a 'violet ram's head' version using a 'general guitar gadgets' PCB which sounds great to my old ears.
