What's new

What's going on with the ELiquid Market?

Bullshit. I’ve had juice at £1 that was good and juice at £4.99 that was worth every penny. Just because *some* juice for £3.99 is shit doesn’t mean it all is.

I’ve been diy’ing for years and I’ve had well thought out complex juices that are heads and shoulders above anything I or anyone I know can make and that to me is worth the asking price.

I can buy a tin of beer for 80p in the local shop and that would probably be good enough if all I wanted to do is get shit faced but you can be damn sure I’d rather be drinking the craft brews from the brewery down the road from me, even though it’s about 4 times the price. And I’d much rather be giving my money to a local maker who cares about their craft rather than Ab-InBev. Same with juice.

With the exception of DIY (which I have no plans on doing) my thoughts exactly. If I had not discovered one of these so called ‘premium’ juices I would still be smoking.

I have no intention to criticize anybody for paying inflated prices for an average product, I am guilty too, it's marketing and sales, I just think that £3.99 is too fucking expensive for 10ml of juice no matter what fucking "development" went into it, development? What? oh that tastes good let's make that, and screw and exploit the idiots giving up smoking. Development is just a justification/excuse for an easy rip off imo.

Have you ever put any effort into making anything in your life? How much is your time worth?

I understand that people are willing to pay for quality, but £3.99 it's more like paying for the name and branding, not the product content, example I can get a bottle of bourbon from Aldi £15, or a bottle of jack Daniels from anywhere else £20, your example would have JD at 4 times the price of the Aldi shit, so JD £60 a bottle. No way is eliquid at £3.99 for 10ml 4x better than 88vape tat, this thread is all about the shit quality of juice right now, so charging £3.99 for it is an insult upon an insult imo.

If you offered me 10ml of mannabush or 40ml of 88 vape I wouldn’t think twice about taking the mannabush. In fact you could even offer me a litre of 88 vape, and I’d still take the 10ml.

A flooded market means some folks are going to drown. It simple consumerism. People will pay what I consider silly prices for a Gucci jacket or dress. It's their money to spend as they see fit. Same applies with juice, on a lesser scale. There are a few brands I will pay more for, when I have the money. They're an occasional treat for me. I mostly know what I like now, so I'm completely ignorant of most new juice - especially as the b&ms near me don't even offer testers. I'm very glad I prefer mtl vaping. I've felt since I started vaping that the higher power juice guzzlers are a way to increase consumption. Or if not, they conveniently have increased consumption as a result.

Totally agree, and not only increase consumption, but reduce the cost of production (3mg nic).

Spot on.
I remember speaking to dinner lady just before the summer hols range was released and to be honest the tpd regs with mhra testing ruined there launch. It was almost Autumn by time they where signed off for release. They literally where starting bottling shortfills when the ok came through. They said the last thing they wanted to do was to undermine all the advertising campaign but they where literally missing the window of opportunity due to the mhra dragging it's heels on juices that had already been far more thoroughly tested in house. So both shortfill and ten ml bottles arrived at the same time. So when they wanted to put out new flavours they went direct for shortfill first and hoped they weren't lumped in with the facebook cowboys.
It's causing so much agrivation as strangling quality juice makers as expected.
We put our range through for testing in Nov 16 but only showed on the TPD list as confirmed a year later.

Talk about dragging their heels

Yes, and my time is priceless but I do not take the piss out of addicts.

Whether someone is an addict or not is a straw man. Especially as the same argument can apply to booze, coffee and other addictive substances. Should coffee lovers be entitled to good coffee cheaper than everyone else as you seem to be implying that vapers should?

Anyway. I can see you’ve missed my point and I have better things to do than argue with strangers on the internet. So you enjoy yours and I’ll enjoy mine.

Peace.

Any addict makes a choice, they can go and mix diy liquid or even buy 88 vape from poundland.
They also have the choice to be a victim and pay £3.99 for shit liquid in a branded/well "developed" marketed bottle with a nice pink and yellow label.
