I think the current consensus is that because we share like 98% of the same dna apes and humans both evolved from some common ancestor, but no one knows how far back that ancestor would be

It's my understanding that we didn't evolve from apes.
A "species" split. One went on to become apes, the other homo erectus.

The reason i ask is they say the sea levels are pretty much the same since the arrival of Homo Sapien.
Yet we are finding structures and cities below the sea.
