Why a mech mod?

I am relatively new to all this and am going to start building up my collection (so much for vaping being cheaper) but I don't see the point in mechanical mods. I think some of them look great but why pay a premium for that? The taste 134 has the beauty of a mech but the functions of a vv/vw so I can get my perfect vape. Somebody please tell me because I really want to understand and get some in my collection but want a reason.

I dont pay a premium for a mech mod. You can get nice ones for less than £50.

They are pretty much fail proof (if theyre made right) ie meaning you dont have any wires or internal electrics to worry about. Only general cleaning, making your own coils (sometimes!) and putting a battery in it.

When your ego or vv/vw mod fails or breaks, you always have a reliable working back up ;)

Some like very low resistance coils an some vv vw mods have a lower limit that they won't go beyond.
There is a certain simplicity to mech mods that is appealing to some, but not to all.
Personally I want to keep my hi tech and my vaping separate after all the more whistles and bells the more to go wrong.

All as above as KMS said. Right from the beginnings of my vaping I always had a semi-mechanical basic, regulated, battery tube mod, for out and about and as a back up. The straight through,no wires, range of modern mechs are IMO an improvement on the old regulated 3.7v tubes. More robust, a bit more oomph, and so much more easier to carry around away from home because they haven't got that extra 2 inches of circuit boards, buttons, and digital displays shoved on the top.

As said above,i use mechs so i can go very low res,the vapor is thicker at low res also more throat hit and flavor imo,my builds are around
0.8 ohms and a vv just wont fire that low, also size, the mech i use now is 49mm [about 2 inches long] in 18350 mode.

@big benson what mod is that? just posted looking for a short 18350
Its called the 4nine mod from shmo vapes,it wasnt cheap though £90 but worth every penny, its the smallest production mod around.

I have two mods and 2 mechs. I use them all. If I build a coil that drops below 1.2 ohms my Tesla won't fire it up so I use it on a mech. Mechs are like tanks. Very robust and will fire up almost anything. The disadvantage is that you don't have variable settings so you need to make sure your coil and juice suits. I can't really use an evod on a mech because the juice tastes burnt. Too much power, maybe.
My mechs are also teeny, 18350 batteries, so fit nicely in my hand and don't feel too macho. I take my pipe mod out and about with me. Very stealthy :)
