Also worth noting, it is possible to buy a tank known for giving incredible flavour and then getting poor flavour from it.
I know you said it is not your build or wicking, but that has been said times before and sometimes it turns out to be the wicking.
Wicking is not a simple case of it either dry hits or leaks and no in-between. Theres varying levels of saturation, your wick can be choked so it is nearly always running dry, but not enough to dry hit, but enough to give next to bugger all flavour. I just had it happen when truing a new wicking technique on my Hastur Mini, chaining on it, no dry hits but no real flavour either.
I pulled the deck and sure enough, cotton was not well saturated, so I rewicked with my usual technique and all is good in the world again.
Lots of people just throw the cotton down the channels on the Hastur Mini and it runs sweet for them, never works for me, even with enough space in the channel to fit your tweezers. What does work for me is the partial dam technique, cotton incredibly short, just holding the juice back.
So as people have said, if you have no luck with these purchases then I'd start looking at your build or wicking, people here will help if you ask.
