1st wicking attempt, any good?

I started making coils with a drill but. Its a lot easier than you would think. Just use the steam engine site for your number of wraps. I usually do a couple more and unwind a little to neaten things up. easy with spaced coils.

Just wondering, what's the significance with making sure the coils are spaced out? I've seen some vids, some are 'touching' like some clapton builds. Do they not work as well if the individual coils are too close one another?

Yeah,I add a few more wraps and unwrap to tidy up,I have used the steam engine calculator but I prefer to use the simple one on vapinghardware. It's so easy to use for single and twisted coils.

I used the Ohm's Law.com calculator myself...found that pretty simple to use.

Technically I don't know the difference. But all mine are spaced and absolutely fine. You don't get hot spots. I first bought a few contact coils and ended up spacing them anyway. Just works for me. And don't get hung up on making them look perfect. As long as they are over the airflow and heating evenly you'll be fine. Just get them near enough the ohms you like to vape. Through mostly error I ended up finding my perfect level was .9 ohms. Just works for me and how I like the temperature of my vape.

The wire wizard is incredibly simple to use and pretty accurate

Okay...so i'll do the same for now. My first attempt did glow evenly across all the wraps, so got something right i guess!

Thanks for the link, have saved it. I see this one aids building the perfect coil.

The Siren 2 is a great tank to start with, i enjoy mine enough i bought a second and it handles high VG great(well enough for my uses) for me. Over-wicking can happen easily though(better too much over not enough though) and it'll start off nice but choke up over time as the wick expands and the thicker juice builds up inside the piddly wicking holes. Way more economical on juice than other tanks i have, if you're burning through juice quicker, it's probably just because you're enjoying the vape(and sucking on it lots)... ;) I keep my favorite juices in the Siren and use up others in the alternates.

Spaced coils wont develop hot spots whereas touching coils can. Spaced coils also don't need strumming & glowing unlike touching coils to eliminate uneven heating up. TC, for me, is more consistent with spaced but power vaping seems to make little difference.
