BBC 6 o'clock news now. A bit on the banning of e-cigs

Sarin I think this may play into these guys hands as they want to control both hardware and software so to speak... if liquid is available separately then our hardware can't be successfully controlled as we can make our own modifications. ..

Just watched the BBC report and have to say it was characteristically one-sided. Whoever owned the cafe should have insisted on presenting an opposite view or refused filming on premises.

Any ban is not going to stop me or anyone vaping but the public need educating and not be faced with a talking head whose relations died from passive smoking...biased, sentimental news reporting aimed at the uninformed. I, for one, will be complaining to the BBC.

The BBC have recently changed policy regards to presenting unbiased scientific research based reports. .. due to perception that always giving airspace to ridiculous theories as though they are equally rated to the serious facts regarding eg global warming etc. .. in this I think maybe we can agree that not showing the actual science in order to provide unbiased reports is extremely foolish. .. however when it comes to areas where the argument is supposed to be based in science but where the science is disputed or has no factual basis that can be proven or demonstrated through scientific means then they shouldn't report in a politically biased way. .. the BBC however have not actually held to the position of political neutrality for some time. .. this is just yet another example of politically biased reporting on their part...

Is it just me, because I don't see a problem with kids vaping. By kids I mean late teens. I think we can all agree it's almost certainly harmless, and, rather than leading them into smoking, it's more likely to stop them.

We think nothing of letting our kids try their first drink at 12 or 14 or whatever, and how many proudly take their son to the pub on their 18th birthday? Yet here we are, vapers ourselves, suggesting that they should be discouraged from taking up a pastime that is unquestionably less harmful than alcohol.

When I said kids I meant those younger than late teens. In the 40's was it not uncommon for kids as young as 8,10.12 to take up smoking hence now there is a new smoking type thing going on a lot of people want to make sure that any advertising doesn't make such young impressionable kids want to take up vaping.

I have seen that advert/video and I think as well as making women look totally ridiculous and cheap it does glamorize vaping. Hence the makers have done nothing to educate the public which is what is needed right now and make themselves and vapers look stupid. Ok sex sells everything but that was just cheap sleaze.

I agree. I think that with the membership levels of the various ecig forums and the close knit nature of the vaping community, we'd be able to organise the biggest demonstrations this country has ever seen. We could bring London to a standstill.

You'd think so......

There were twelve people at the bbc Manchester demonstration earlier in the year, I dont even see us stopping traffic through a one road village, never mind London.

I wanted to attend at the BBC demo, but finances(lack of)prevented me. Since these demonstrations though, more people have become aware of the farce that is vaping regulations so a slightly better advertised event might produce a bigger turnout.

There is no real threat to vaping yet - it would be a different response if, say, they banned nicotine. And no offence to Manchester, but I don't think the government would be too concerned about it grinding to a halt.

But imagine something like 10,000 vapers crowding onto the concourse at Waterloo station at 08.00 on a Friday morning - no-one would be able to get off the platforms and the City would be paralysed. That's the sort of thing we should be looking at.

I agree entirely, I really do, but there's not the feeling for a full blown demo yet, I hope there will be, but even though potv is quite a big forum, with thousands of members, there's only a few hundred active members, same on all the other forums, same on the Facebook groups. Certainly not enough for a massivd civil unrest, not yet. Just look at the vapefest/efvi fiasco for example.

Afaik some massive demo's have successfully been swept under the media carpet ...even if we could get enough folk together, which i would doubt.

Social media is probably the more powerful tool
