It's a quote from the interviewee 'who believes' - probably means pleurisy which could be treated by anti-biotics or NSAIDs - doubt it had anything to do with vaping though.

Yeah, but...

Pneumonia can include a build up of fluid in the lungs.

A treatment for bacterial pneumonia is a course of antibiotics.

A mild case of fungal pneumonia might be treated with antifungal tablets.


Both of these have a slim outside chance of being 'caused' by very poor hygiene of vaping devices.

What are the chances an average 17 year old is going to have everything explained to them by a doctor, and even if it is are they going to comprehend or even remember?

I saw this live this morning nearly trashed the TV, bloody Cockwombles the lot of them.

Yes she most likely had steroids or antibiotics

but the adult interviewing her took what a minor said and did the whole let’s print it as it sounds brilliant news coverage

at the end of the day the child that purchased the vape stuff knowing full well it’s breaking the law is patted on the back

To be fair the retailers that aren't carrying out proper age checks aren't doing the responsible side of the industry any favours (which was the focus of the article). There's a profusion of shops that used to solely do cheap mobile phone accessories that have moved into the vape market, some of which are as dodgy as anything...
