5 wraps round a 2.5mm jig should be around 1.2ohm
when using steam engine for claptons you just need to put the core wire, the outer wire has very little effect on the resistance

Ah deadly . That should see me right . Out of curiosity.. wat sort of watts should I be hiring at?

Start from like 6 or 8 watts and just go a watt or half watt up at a time till u get where u want to be, it will be different for everyone.

Im guessing somewhere between 11 and 14 watts tho. I used to run a 1.7 ohm kanthal at like almost 18 watts, so it depends

Steam engine says 9w so start a little below that as @jd says and go up a watt at a time. Ive never used ni80 for mtl but im guessing 10-12w would be fine.
For 1ohm kanthal coil i use 12w, some use higher some use lower wattage, its personal preference so long as you dont go stupidly high to instantly burn cotton

If i remember rightly when i used the superfine mtl clapton wire (vandy vape i think) in my berserker i used to get about 0.7 ohms off a 5 wrap, cant remember if it was 2.5 or 3mm id though and was defo ni80. Still got some somewhere i think. And if memory serves i used to run it at about 16w ish.... Been a while since i used it though, still sat looking all matchy matchy on a black pico squeeze that still works lol.

I use 28g kanthal wire, 5 wraps, 2.5id, around 1ohm at 12w for all my mtl rtas

My first rta was a beserker mini that came with 2x 0.7ohm claptons, don't know what metal it was. I used one for a day or two then made own coil as soon as my wire was delivered. And prefered my own plain roundwire coil to the clapton as I got some popping with the clapton, probably due to me being new to rtas

Mine is coming in at .9 ohms. Think there is 6 wraps on it .
