COP 10

Sneaky bastards, what do they hope to gain, how does it benefit the anti`s other than vanity, it`s not even a moral victory because they must know deep down that they are in the wrong. It doesn`t seem right that a bunch of exremists can hijack proceedings and force their opinions on the whole COP.

Good news, COP10 has been postponed until next year apparently due to the government in Panama cancelling the contract. :clapping:

Only until (early) 2024 apparently -

The sessions are expected to be held in Panama, as early as possible in 2024, at dates to be confirmed.
The postponement of COP10 and MOP3 is due to the current security situation in Panama.
Anyway, we've now got enough to worry about potential Sunak vape restrictions, which could well make the WHO (& Bloomberg) happy...

Any delay is good news though. I doubt any vape restrictions here will see the light of day before early 2024 and the UK government will be obliged to implement whatever the WHO ends up proposing unless it and/or others don't accept them regardless.

Update from ECig Click -
COP10 – V2: February 2024 & UK Government Position
https://www.ecigclick.co.uk/cop10-v2-february-2024-uk-government-position/

The article mainly concerns 2 lengthy quotes from Andrew Lewer Conservative MP and Andrea Leadsom, the Parliamentary Secretary of State for Health and Social care.

Andrew Lewer makes a lot of sound points.

What Andrea Leadsom has to say is interesting because of her laudable stance against the WHO, but this has to be counter balanced with what is proposed in the tobacco and vapes (smoke-free generation) Bill.
"The UK is an outlier on the topic of vapes, and we will be putting forward our position that vapes are a very important tool for helping adults to quit."

"The UK has a world-leading approach to reducing harms from tobacco and nicotine, and we will continue to do that."

"I want to reassure everybody that our delegation will be bound by common sense, and not by conference decisions that run contrary to common sense, or indeed to decisions that run counter to our national interest. That includes the decisions we take in helping smokers to quit through quit aids such as vapes and nicotine replacement products. We are a sovereign nation, and it is not within the WHO’s remit to intervene in our internal affairs."

In case you missed it, this is probably one of the most noticeable things to come out COP10 (in respect to not just misinformation, but downright lies)...
In a shocking display of misinformation, the Spanish Secretary of State for Health, a COP10 delegate, shared a mock-up on social media of a single-use vaping device branded as “New Vaper” bearing the description "cancer flavor," and claiming it to be "100% carcinogenic."
