EVOD coil help please

Used evods for months. Previously a coil head would last me a couple of weeks now a couple of days.

First batch of coils had a short chimney the latest batch a long chimney which I think is the latest design for both evod & protank.

Both I think originals the latest ones even have the OR code I think it's called on the box as well as the Kanger tech branding.

Was going to try a dry burn as the vapour production had dropped dramatically. The flavour wicks were burnt beyond recognition.

Saw, somewhere that you can remove these so I did. Did a dry burn & eventually the coil glowed red but unfortunately without the flavour wicks it just gurgled & leaked eLiquid.

At this rate I'll be spending just as much on coils as I do liquid as I only vape about 3 ml a day.
What's gone wrong ?

Not sure what has gone wrong but why not have a go at building your own coils? There is a great guide on here which I used tonight and after struggling and lots of swearing I managed to do it. I've been using the stock heads and the flavour always seemed muted to me but with my own built coil it is so much better. I'm not getting any burnt taste which I would get sometimes before and it is just full on flavour.

And I thought it's just me... I just got some EVODs and the long chimney design gave me issues. I have 2 originals and a fake. The fake has a short chimney and works reasonably well. The originals gurgle and the flavour wicks were so badly located, they kept coming out. I replaced one and will see how it goes, yes they burn to a cinder when dry burning. Which seems wrong? And can't be healthy?
I found the gurgling doesn't always come from a flooded coil. (Unless you remove the flavour wick). Water collects in the airtube from condensation. Eventually it will drown the coil. I find a quick shake upside down (the way you prep a mercury fever thermometer) and no gurgling and reduced vapour. And no more dry burns.

I'm quite happy with the stock coils & what was costing me £1.20 every couple of weeks I didn't care. Same old eGo battery so not using a mod & cranking it up too high. Always keep liquid topped up. Not exactly the same liquid but still 60/40 PG/VG. I'm baffled.

Have 2 evods on the go as I like to switch flavours. Both went west at work today & nearly had to buy stinkies.

I steeled myself & got through the day until I got home.

Got a few Boge cartomisers at home so quickly filled one up & attached to battery. Very satisfying so not the battery.

2 new coils later & both evods working sweet.

I normally clean out the vapour tube with a pipe cleaner every time I top up with liquid.

Like madpiano I never had this is issue with the short chimney design

Just ordered a Protank mini 2 & more coils. Same coils as evod. I'm really hoping I haven't wasted more money.

Until a couple of days ago I could have sworn by the EVOD not at it.

Yep, building your own is the way to go because it's dirt cheap. Just be prepared for lots of swearing and getting angry lol. I lost the little chimmney off mine tonight. God knows where it went but I will have to find before I vaccum up otherwise it will break the Hoover!
