Last Ditch Attempt - Liquids

If I do go back to trying to use an RTA could you point me in the direction of "the right cotton"? its possible the time I tried it the coils/cotton i used weren't great.

Thanks

For mesh RTA you want the 6mm cotton laces as they're made for mesh tanks. I wouldn't ever use Muji or Cotton Bacon etc with mesh, although some folks do with no issues.

Personally I like these 3 brands:

Firebolt M Cotton
Vandy Vape M Cotton
WoToFo xFiber 6mm version

You can get 2 wicks per lace from the Firebolt and WoToFo stuff, so they work out best value for money.

I started adding just 1 because I didnt feel like i needed 3mg of nicotine and was happy with the hit i got from just 1 but are you saying having 3mg of nicotine could solve some of my issues?
It may well do so yes. If your blitzing through 20ml a day, try it at 3mg. The throat hit should be the same, but your nicotine intake will increase, and you should automatically start taking less draws than you normally would as your brain is getting the nicotine hit it wants, with less vape

Hi Mate,

So I've never messed around with PG and VG shots as I've no idea what % of each I should/would use and not bothered to look into it. I just added a 10ml of premixed 70/30 Nicotine shot to the drip drop bottles. When I tried Nova Vapes i found that the liquid was constantly leaking through my coil and out of the airflow holes which I guess could be due to it being too thin for my style of vaping? You sound like you've cracked pretty much what i'm looking for from vaping with 10-14 days but what was the best solution, was it the new tank or was it doing your own pg/vg mixes of nicotine?
so you used 1 70/30 shot. so same as i do but in 100ml i use 2.
adding one 10ml nic shot to 100ml makes it 1.5mg nic strenght. for 100ml bottles the way they are produced is to take 2 x 10ml to make them 3mg at the correct flavour strength. if you are happy with 1.5 nic then you could get a small bottle of vg and just ad 10ml of that to get it up the the correct thickness.
if your adding one then it does sound as if the juice is a bit thin.

its so difficult to work out as no two people vape and live the same. for me i suffer with arthritis so my radiators are on continusly through out the day. the heat can thin juice down but still nothing like summer time when it can get to over 30c inside then most tanks can leak.

also i keep forgetting to mention that i do have at least 5-10 kits on the go with a different flavour in each so its difficult to say exactly how many days the coils will last. but a lot of the other kits may only have 10 puffs in a day so the majority is the same tank which was back then the mesh pro and now the geekvape zeus.
i will certainly go back to the mesh pros as still got loads of coils to use up.

the nova vapes may need a 100 vg nic shot as that sounds thin. ive got some of their juice from over 2 years ago but i only use that in my small mtl vim for out and about driving.

Thanks for this, so if i was to buy a Kylin Mesh Pro RTA which coils would you suggest to go with the cottons you've listed? As i said i currently vape at 60W on 0.2ohm

If you search for the wotofo mesh strips or the vandy vape mesh strips there are a few ones to try. I, and maybe others, find that the the mesh strips have a very broad wattage range no matter the ohms they're noted at. They're good at 40w right up to 70/80w with some of the lower ohm ones.

You can also buy reels of the vandy vape mesh that you can cut yourself.

I personally like the wotofo 0.18 ones. Good for me at 55/60w.

I also use the wotofo 0.3 ps strips at 40w with higher nic.

Other folk will have their preferences and can advise as well.

Hi Guys,

So I went ahead a purchased the Kylin M Pro with some mesh coils and a pack of cotton, I was super excited to try what i thought might be the answer to my vaping problems or atleast a more cost effective solution. However the problems continue... Now I know at this point it must be something I'm doing wrong but I cannot figure out what for the life of me.

So I've tried to install 3 different mesh strips with cotton now and every single time when I'm attempting to vape within the suggested Wattage range i'm getting burnt hits. I've followed a video every time when wicking and even followed a video with a friend watching (friend doesn't vape tbh but just more to prove I'm following the video correctly). I bend the coil around the cylinder that came with the kylin m pro as instructed, I pre-heat the coil at around 15-20W until it goes red all over as instructed, then I add the cotton and cut at the angle suggested in all the videos and then fluff the cotton, cut the excess and feed into the well of the device, I then prime the coil and the cotton so its nice and saturated, add the top back on and fill it up. I then start by having a few hits at 30>40 and on the first two 50W, all those hits are fine in terms of burning but shit flavour (barely anything) and limited smoke, I then ramp up to 60W (first two coils suggested 50-70) and boom one or two hits in I get the burnt taste. When taking the tank off to check the mesh coil had visible burn marks on it and was out of shape from what was originally put in. The 3rd time i tried less cotton to try and make sure i wasn't stuffing the hole to the point it was too tight and still 50W produced burnt taste (40-60W coil). The burnt taste occured on all 3 attempts along with pretty much what i would describe as shit flavour production.

Please somebody tell me there's something obvious I'm doing wrong here because I've no idea what's going so badly.

Defintely the wicking mate. I had the same issue at first when I started using mesh. Once you get it it's great though. The fact that you say the mesh is distorting is what makes me think it's your wicking. Are you pushing the cotton down on the loaded spring as you're feeding it through? Also are you using the 6mm laced cotton as well as that's usually just the right amount. Any distortion of the mesh will give you a hotspot and burn the cotton so it's important that you don't do that but it can be tricky.

I also don't fluff the cotton, just cut it at an angle then stuff what's left in the wicking holes. I then trim any excess around the mesh to make it neater, don't know if that does anything but it looks better. Then you have to saturate the wick a good bit before you put the tank together. Fill it up and vape away. You'll know if it's fucked if it starts burning after a few draws.

Could also be the way you vape on it. Try 5w less than what you're trying and draw a little longer to get more air in through the airflow.

Ok this was my hope and thought that it would be my wicking but honestly I can't quite figure out where i'm going wrong. I'm using 6mm cotton, I pull it through using the lace side and it sits on loaded spring. I wouldn't say i necessarily push it down as im putting it through but my bent coil issue is not straight after the cotton is through its after i tasted the burnt and pulled off the top. I cut at the angle and tuck the rest into the wicking space and honestly would say i do a fair amount of saturating. I get what you mean to try with the 5W less but surely if its rated for example 50-70 I shouldn't be getting burnt hits at 60W no matter the style i vape with?

Thanks for your quick response btw! :)

With the Kylin M Pro, if the wick is too high it will get pushed down by the chimney when you put it on, which causes the wick to get pushed down, causing spaces between the wick and the coil. If there is any coil area that is not touching the wick, it will super-heat when fired, causing the wick to get burnt. Worst case scenario (believe me, I have been here) is that you will get flames from the wick burning. NOT very nice. I use Temp Control with the M Pro, and it will quickly burn.

I cut the wick back at an angle that almost starts at the coil. I cut out any excess wick that could touch the chimney. In the early days with it I spent an entire afternoon getting frustrated.

Here is the post I made with some pictures - Kylin M Pro

Good luck.
