Last Ditch Attempt - Liquids

With the Kylin M Pro, if the wick is too high it will get pushed down by the chimney when you put it on, which causes the wick to get pushed down, causing spaces between the wick and the coil. If there is any coil area that is not touching the wick, it will super-heat when fired, causing the wick to get burnt. Worst case scenario (believe me, I have been here) is that you will get flames from the wick burning. NOT very nice. I use Temp Control with the M Pro, and it will quickly burn.

I cut the wick back at an angle that almost starts at the coil. I cut out any excess wick that could touch the chimney. In the early days with it I spent an entire afternoon getting frustrated.

Here is the post I made with some pictures - Kylin M Pro

Good luck.
Ahhhh! Okay so this sounds very possible that the tank pushed the coil down making it the weird shape and could explain how the coil is burnt after less than a tank of vaping. Not sure whats causing my current on to be bad but i'll check out your pictures and try to match them and see how i get on :)

Oh, what mesh strips are you using?

I've used 3 of the 4 that came with the Kylin M tank, two 0.2ohm and 1 0.15ohm. I will upload a picture of my wicking attempt once i get home later tonight and hopefully it can help with showing what the problem is to those who know more than I do.

Here's mine right now.

Ignore the slight burning as it's needing a rewick. I've had this one in for a while and I've been using the tank pretty much non stop.

I try to keep it so the wick stays within the inner ring and doesn't get caught by the chimney.

I also always trim the top so it's more level with the mesh at the top.

Also watch out for the cotton poking out the wicking holes there at the bottom. The chimney can catch those when putting it back together and you won't get a seal at the bottom. I've had tanks piss all over me cause of not noticing. The only thing that annoys me about the Kylin m pro.

Ok so now i'm back home below i've got 3 pictures of my vape, 1 from each side and one from the top. Is there anything obvious here?

Yes, as I suspected, your wick sits above the top of the mesh coil.

Not a very good pic, but mine is lower than the mesh. The chimney sits very close to the mesh, if the wick is higher than the mesh, the chimney pushes it down.

Also look at @Gitchy's picture, his wick is not sitting above the mesh.

Yeah like hack says I think the cotton's a wee bit too high above the mesh. On the profile mesh tanks this is fine but I find for the m pro it needs to be level, I see hack has it below. Everyone does it differently and there's no real right way.

You can just trim that excess to make it level with the mesh, no need to rewick. See if that helps at all.

So just to clarify so i'm understanding you (might need to use dumb it down terms as i'm new to this) Are you saying that the cotton is higher than the mesh coil on either side therefore its causing it to burn? so to solve my problem i'd need to trim the top of the cotton off?

Yes, exactly. When you put the tank back together, the chimney pushes the wick down causing it to separate from the mesh. If any of the mesh is not touching the wick fully, it will super-heat because there is nothing to keep it cool. You've seen how quickly it gets red hot, it's doing that when the wick is pushed down.

Just trim the wick down. It should then work just fine.

@Hocky Here's a really badly edited pic of what I mean :) It's 2D, but hopefully you get what I mean.
