Mask exemptions

This mask lark will be and is already horrendous for the deaf and hard of hearing, seems like they're supposed to wear a label or badge to avoid recently reported incidents where some checkout operators and other staff though they were all crazy and on drugs because they couldn't understand what was being said to them, or easily explain themselves.

Really? Even as a 36 year old with no disability other than being able to talk a lot of pish, I have seriously struggled to understand and be understood by staff workers whilst wearing a mask. You'd think a bit of common sense would prevail.

Well you would think so, but unfortunately people tend not to..........

Totally agree. Which is the reason descent retailers are giving staff transparent face shields. It's clear that the Gov don't care about this group. But the haven't been forgotten by many companies who value their custom.

it's up to use, the non impaired, to but pressure on those who don't care enough to do it in the first place. Then Vote with our feet, if they won't. And if that's cancel culture, more power to Cancel Culture.

I totally agree mate.
The trouble is though that that only works one way, so yes it is easier to hear a member of staff who is wearing a visor rather than a mask, but what about the other way round.
There are a lot of people in this country that are known as "profoundly deaf" this means they have had little, or no hearing since birth, or from an early age, hence because they have never heard anything correctly they have great difficulty in speaking, so people find it very difficult to understand them even without a mask.
They can speak a little after years of therapy / training, but they are still quite indistinct.
A couple of them used to live in the town, but I have not seen them for a couple of years, if they came in anywhere I was (one particular pub in particular) I would always help them place their order.

Quite a lot of members have shall I say been less than sympathetic to the problem that a few members are facing over the issue that those of us with breathing problems as to how we will be treated when entering shops.
So I have brought a couple of these, I seem to be able to breathe okay, and as some members have pointed out you only need a face covering, so this seems to cover all requirements.
Long live understanding, and cooperation. Peace & love to all. :)
