What's new

Matt Hancock

Not sure if you're querying my post but I was jaw-droppingly gobsmacked by this...

The blame lies with him and the rest of the government in the first place. It’s because of them that the nhs is in the mess that it is in.

@Rickster it doesn’t surprise me at all. These are the same people that cheered in the house of commons when the lot of them voted against a pay rise for nurses.

To the idea that this situation transcends politics, it’s worth remembering that we are in as much of a mess as we are in as a result of political decision making. It’s as simple as that.
I agree on the whole it is political decision making is the reason for the mess

but .. that can be traced back to blair’s Labour government - they were the first to start privatizing the NHS to quite an extent as well - its been on a roll since then.

all is not the fault of any one party but rather a rolling fuckup many years and crossing party lines in the making

The blair government did fuck the nhs in several ways, aye, however the issue of defunding the nhs is one that we can definitely attribute to the tories.

The problem lies with an ideology.

And the Missus?
Same. She wants to get back to work and help save lives, she is full of guilt while on the settee, but it's the same cycle of feeling better and then having your legs knocked from under you. Upside is that neither of us have a breathing problem anymore and it has yet to return.

Can't see many clapping them on to pushing for private healthcare after this.

One I personally think and hope is about to change - people and ideals are not solid - things react and change to a changing environment.

I think anyone - no matter what colour the flag they wave can now see the importance of the nhs - I suspect and hope they will step up to the task.

they have already pretty much out lefted the left with the grants and stuff etc - and yes I know, they are not great for everyone at present, but we have still not seen movement like this from a government in years - it gives me hope they will continue to adapt to the situation and get into all the nooks and crannies they can.

beside which it’s absolutely pointless to wish anything else - they are in labour are not.
I think trying to work with them and perhaps encourage them to go in the right directions is a better use of our time than wishing Stalin had got in.
That was one of the premises of brexit - to have more control over a local government than none over a central government - let’s see if they are up to the task - that requires letting (and encouraging them) to do it - and prove they are what they say.

rmember this is a different Tory government to the last one - with different drives - we need to see what they are made of

apologies! Corbyn! Not Stalin

Genuine question - do you know of a single company that's received a sanctioned loan, a single self employed person who's been contacted by the HMRC or a single UC claimant who has received a benefit payment?

I don't. I know a fair few who have tried.

All of those promised measures appear to hold as much water as promises of PPE for the NHS - they're empty promises. Or lies, if you will.

We were contacted about and filed for our grant last week - as were all the other companies in our business centre (and a few others who’s are under Gedling local council)

but I hear ya - time will tell on the others - I’m not suggesting they are not cunts - I’m suggestion we give them the chance to prove are or not. We do t have much other option anyway
