I love my mechs, my unregulated boxes and my pwm mods
But they all rely on my coiling
And I build the last two myself, so that's added, even planing making a proper box mech soon
For me, I've only used 3 regulated mods and been happy with them, two wine I started Vaping and a lipo dna made recently
If I want to build for my mechs/unregulated mods I know the exact coils I want, and what rda's because I only use an rda I can transfer across all my mechs (including the hybrids), so it's fast and I know what I will get
I know the ohms range I want, and what power I will get
When I build for a regulated mod I plan it out more and use far more intricate designs
In the maintenance side, most regulated mods can die with a single mistake, or even normal use and be fit for the bin
While I've got a mech that had a battery vent and just needed a through cleaning
But that brings the major downside to mechs into view - they are a potential danger and require some upkeep while at the same time being so simple they are fixable even after extreme events
Example for me
If I dropped my smok r200 mod down the toilet in the morning it would likely not survive
If I dropped my smpl off my bike at speed into a puddle and took a few minutes to find it though I'd ditch the battery and clean the mod, worst case a quick sanding and it's brand new
Mechs are not for everyone, which is probably a good thing with the risks they have, but for those who like them they have upsides that regulated mods might never reach
