RBA vs pre-built - Please explain

@Crispycritters definitely knows more about the different wire and coil types than I do so that's some very good advice there.

I tried the juggernaut but didn't like them. I've always favoured framed staples but you've got a good selection in that box.

The only thing I'm not so keen on is being restricted to only 3mm coils. I'm actually much happier with larger 4mm coils but I have to make them myself from wire reels and everyone seems to be discontinuing those.

Yes I ordered those coils in Ni80. I have a good mod with lots of power options so I should be ok with all of them.
The tank should be here tomorrow with everything else hopefully arriving for Friday. I'll let you know how i get on.
I've read that some people wanted to throw their Aromamizer Supreme V3 RDTA out of the window out of frustration at first but eventually got the hang of it. Been watching lots of videos on how to wick it. Fingers crossed it all goes ok and I'm happy with it. Spent a lot of money on this set up lol.
Thanks all you've been a great help with everything.

I know it's difficult to say, but roughly how long should such a coil last me? Obviously I'll need to rewick more often, but how long should something like a fused clapton or similar in that pack keep me going before needing to be replaced?

With a tank like that with so many possible variations and options it might all seem frustrating while you're getting to know it and getting the hang of things but it's definitely worth persevering with as I know you'll love it once you find the setup you like the most. The good thing is you're come to the right place to get good advice and ask questions because there are always plenty of people who are always glad to help.

Depending on how you wick it you'll normally find that the flavour will start deteriorating after the first couple of tanks but you should get 6 to 10 tanks out of it before it needs changing but that's a matter of personal preference as to when you decide to rebuild it. Partly it will depend on how much you enjoy spending time tinkering and trying out different things.

You'll be mixing your own juices next. :)

Unlike stock coils you can just pull the manky cotton and clean the coil - with ni80 coils I get a cup of water, glow the coil and dunk it in the water when it is still glowing and repeat 3 or 4 times - generally you will see bits of black gritty cack sinking to the bottom of the cup. If the crud us really baked on - a light scrape with a thin screwdriver blade will loosen it up before dunking. Don't go made with the screwdriver, 4 or 5 light scrapes is better that gouging the crap out of it.

How long a coil lasts can be affected by how much you vape - I'd say a month is reasonable from those wires, but they are cheap enough to change more frequently if you prefer. They will need a clean more often than a change - but how often they need a clean is more affected by how sweet the juice is. it's a suck it and see scenario.

Already mixing my own juices :2thumbsup:
Not all, I still buy pre-mades but I have started to mix my own hehe.

If my Deck, Coil and Cotton are really gunked up which is quite often with certain liquids, i just remove the cotton and shove it in the Ultrasonic Cleaner for a couple of cycles and it's done, you can either dry it yourself or just leave it to dry itself. I tend to just leave it as i have about 9 or 10 in my rotation at the minute. Now Mesh is a totally different beast and i find i very rarely have to do anything and flavour stays pretty much spot on, if the cotton needs changing i generally change the Mesh as well, Single wire Coils i tend to just change it all. Everyone is different though.

My RTA kit comes with a steel wire brush. That could be a more gentle alternative to screwdriver scraping.
I generally use very sweet juices, sweet fruits and desserts. I know they're not the best for coils but as has been said, they're cheap and I'll soon probably start making my own, so will be even cheaper then.

Given that my mod automatically identifies the ohm of the installed coil, I won't need an ohm meter will I? Surely not?

Just use your mod to read the coil

the wire brush will be good - i just use a screwdriver because i have a pack of them on top of my build kit and my brush is somewhere at the bottom of a big tupperware box full of build supplies and i'm too lazy to dig it out.

Don't bother buying a build tab/ohm reader - most only house a single 18650 battery and they are next to useless for glowing/strumming low resistance dual coil builds. A lot of them aren't power adjustable which means they throw whatever power the battery can provide to the coil unless you pay through the nose to buy one with a DNA chip - but even with that they are still limited by the single 18650. Your mod will do the same job without the power limitations as long as you aren't using a single 18650 mod lol.
