Simple hybrid question

I've got a derringer clone and fancy another. I don't seem to be able to get the 510 screw to budge without spinning the centre post of the Atty.

I'd like to run these on a SMPL or 4nine.

Simple question is how? All of my 18650s are flat tops (25Rs and VTC4s)

Ta apes.

The 510 protrudes enough to make contact anyway so no need to worry :) You can use any battery you wish to use, obviously flat top will give you a shorter throw.

If in doubt you could always use small magnet from the battery to the 510, but really it's not needed.

I use flat tops with mine all the time dude, same old just making sure the positive pokes out enough.

How 'steady' the smpl is when sat on a table varies with whichever battery brand you use - with efests its a bit wonky, with the 25r's its much more steady. Button isn't ruly recessed, pokes out a mm or so.

Also depends on attty, my aqua lets me screw the button right in and it is rock solid when stood up.

Think the efests are a smidge bigger than the 25s - they have really thick wrap.

Not got a 4nine yet as i can"t find a decent clone where the seams are invisible. SS smpl is a work horse - bombproof i reckon.

My derringer clone looks good for a hybrid connection.
If yours does not then do not use it on a hybrid.
Simples.

Thanks to all.

Is there a simple rule of thumb for how much protrusion you need on the atty's 510 screw?

I use attys with 1mm or more but in my view 1mm could become dodgy if you over tighten your atty enough to deform the top of your battery.
It really comes down to understanding your gear and what could go wrong then making an informed risk assessment.
Not all hybrid conections are the same some like the 4nine come with an insulation ring on the underside that could reduce the risk with the 510 on some attys.
Because hybrids will not fire everything safely is a good reason to make your first mech one with an adjustable 510.

edit
Should add that another danger with a pos pin on an atty that only protrudes a little is that they can be pushed in over time.
I have a kraken here on a nemesis that not so long ago, I was happy to use on a smpl but not now, or at least not till I do something about the pin.

Thanks for your pointers on this. I've used mechs a fair bit but not with a hybrid connector.
I've looked at the pin on the derringer and it's not going to be safe. I'll try unscrewing it a bit when the build in there dies (Clapton that I'm not going to trash with the spinning centre post malarkey.

Place a small oring or piece of plastic under the screw, it'll enable you to tighten it and still leave enough protuding to be safe

For reference my very grubby dezzy's bottom bits ! Again non-adjustable, i suppose with clones it can be a roll of the dice whether or not they do what we want.
