Hi All,

Put this in the general chat, rather than a sub forum, as its important to us all.
I mix my own liquids, as some of you Apes already know.
Obviously I have stockpiled some 72mg nicotine lately, from various suppliers.

Was not overly concerned about the TPD regs, as a few companies said it would not affect their products.
Including one vape supplier who was setting up a separate company just to sell pharma products (incuding nicotine)
Plus another that is already a pharma only supplier.

With only a week to go before TPD, I decided to check my stock, and decided to buy a little more.

Shock horror !!!!!!
Most of the suppliers now seem to say only while stocks last...........

Checked Darkstar, to find the same message, earlier on my work computer.
Checked my last supplier, as I was impressed by their customer service, delivery, and packaging.

To my horror I found the price with them was now nearly double the price of Darkstar.

So just ordered another 2 litres of it from Darkstar.

But the most worrying thing for us all is this.
I have been buying from from Darkstar at £18 for 500ml, today I ordered 2 litres for £69 including packing & delivery.
But they now have a new section on the site showing their TPD compliant nicotine, that I assume we will shortly have to use.

The "shots" as expected are in 10ml bottles, at 18mg strength.
They come in packs of 18, at £15.99 (not including delivery)

Bloody shocking, that works out at £16 for 180ml, wheras I have been paying £18 for 500ml, and nic strength is much lower, so you have to use more for a mix.
Quick calculation including the change in strength = old stuff we are used to £3.60 for 100ml, new stuff we hate £35 for 100ml.

I don't blame Darkstar, that's the knock on effect of more controls, packaging costs, etc and the list goes on !

My best advice, get some in now if you mix, if you buy ready made jucie buy plenty of that !

As one of myfriends in local saidtonight when I explained it, he said "well the implications of that mean my favourite ready to use juice will go up to £6 or £7 a bottle, I might as well start smoking again !!!!!

Regards

There are plenty of justifications for juice manufacturers to increase prices, but nicotine prices aren't one of them as they will still be able to source 72mg in bulk.

Yes, and mixing your own even with more expensive 18mg nic will still be cheaper than most branded juice. Whether it will be better is down to skills.

Well, up to you guys, everyone to their own opinion etc.
Either of you stocked up on anything ?

Only several years...........
Just calculated out that mine will now last out 10 to 12 years.
I will certainly be retired, and possibly dead by then...........
I was just trying to make less attuned people that there ain't much time left ;-))

Several have already done the calcs and warned of the ten fold increase in nic costs from buying shots.
Better to say it several times than not say it at all ... most DIYers here seem to be well stocked already.

As @Mr Numpty says though, this price hike for consumers does not translate into a price hike for compliant premade juice as manufacturers obviously won't be buying shots. That's not opinion. :)

Maybe the price of nic shots will reduce after 20th May and this is a cunning ruse to panic some folk into buying much more nic than they can possibly use before their early deaths through over-stressing? :D

Yeah, i agree the calcs have been done many times, I am just trying trying to get it acoss to anyone who will mis the boat......

I must admit I am intrigued by ""does not translate into a price hike for compliant premade juice as manufacturers obviously won't be buying shots. That's not opinion" well either it's an opinion, or you are a manufacturer that has not given us the benefit of your knowledge.

If as you speculate, "Maybe the price of nic shots will reduce after 20th May and this is a cunning ruse to panic some folk into buying much more nic than they can possibly use before their early deaths through over-stressing?"
Maybe this will happen,or maybe not, only the manufacturers know, as to people stressing about the issue, I'v got enough now to not stress at all..............

It's not opinion, it's a fact. Businesses that manufacture e liquid can legally continue to buy 7.2mg nic in bulk. It's Joe Public who won't be allowed to buy it anymore.

As @scrumpox says "Better to say it several times than not say it at all". :)

But he's also right to say that "price hike for consumers does not translate into a price hike for compliant premade juice as manufacturers obviously won't be buying shots" - whether he's a manufacturer himself or not doesn't alter the fact that that is a .... er .... fact. And 'giving us the benefit of his knowledge' is exactly what he is doing! :D
