I hear you on the wishful thinking. Sometimes, it feels like some bills come out of nowhere, and you're left wondering if they're ever going to get the attention they deserve or just fade into the background. As for tobacco and vapes, it can definitely get frustrating navigating the rules and regulations around them, especially when it feels like decisions are being made without considering all the factors.

Can anyone confirm whether the "higher" mg Nicotine used for DIY will be affected and the resulting cost, ie, do I need to stock up now?

Nothing is set in stone atmo, but if you want to indulge in a bit of navel gazing, it's all gonna get more expensive potentially. You can't legally buy stronger then 20mg in the UK. So that leaves the only option of stocking up on whatever you can afford and load up the freezer.

Navel gazing...... "useless or excessive self-contemplation" or " someone who spends too much time considering their own thoughts, feelings, or problems", not sure how that fits in with my question? I use almost 3 x 20mg strength Nic and it has never been a problem buying it, legal or otherwise. I will however take your advice to stock my freezer, thanks

It's not illegal to buy, use, or own.
Despite some over zealous mods thinking so it's not illegal to discuss either.

As far as I am aware no mods have claimed discussing it is illegal, unless I've missed it, which is certainly possible. Regardless, it is against the forum's rules, because as you just stated, TPD restricted the sale of nicotine to general consumers to 20mg. That decision was taken by management a long time ago. What people buy, where they buy it from, and what they do with it, is their business, but management made the decision that the subject was not to be discussed on the open forum, so therefore it's the mods responsibility to enforce that rule for as long as it's in place.

Okay, so the rule was already in place before I became a moderator, but my understanding is that selling 72mg to the general public is illegal. The TPD is incorporated in to UK law via the TRPR which limits the maximum nicotine level Joe Bloggs can buy to 20mg. 72mg can not legally be sold to Joe Bloggs. It can still be purchased legally for manufacturing purposes as long as the resulting products are compliant with the regulations. Joe Bloggs mixing his own juice at home does not qualify so it is not legal for suppliers to sell 72mg to Joe Bloggs so that he can mix his own juice at home, so the sale of 72mg nicotine to Joe Bloggs who mixes his own juice is illegal. My understanding is that there was some concern early on about scrutiny and not wanting to draw unnecessary attention to the subject, so a decision was made to restrict conversation about it on the public forum.
