What's new

The Mk 1 Squelchy...

Such a nice Mod in the flesh, @Tubbyengineer :2thumbsup: The internals were really something AND...... Lights too!!! :D

Well I've made the final modification to the box - replacing the scrotum shrinkingly bad positive connection on the FDV 510. The replacement was knocked up in a couple of minutes from a single piece of 5a connector strip - basically a solid brass collar with a screw to tighten down onto the 510 centre tube, simply cutting it in half with a dremel yielded two nicely sized connectors, soldering the wire to it was simple and the flat side helped keep it neat. Now all I need is a couple of weeks of testing to see if there are any revisions I need to make then it will be on to the Mk2 - for which I'll probably enrol the assistance of someone with a milling machine to cut out the holes for buttons, screen and squonk bottle...

Superb job tubby. Cutting apertures in metal is a pig. I bet a couple of plastic frame cover plates from our 3d printing friends will tidy them up beautifully.

@Tubbyengineer I used a tapered metal cone shaped drill bit once to install a flashing beacon on my van - it made short work of the roof and a nice tidy hole it made too and with a basic battery drill. Are you familiar with the doofer I mean? I reckon it would be perfect for the job. I'll see if I can dredge up a pic...View attachment 98743

Edit: if you could get a cobalt one it would piss through most things you throw at it :)

Yep, I've used step drills before, It's more the square holes that are the problem. I'm torn between buying a small mill / drill rig and just having someone mill out the holes for me...
