UK Gov To Ban Disposables?

Playing devils` advocate I can kinda see some logic in the govts thinking, before this whole disposable shitstorm broke there was the cigalike, a kind of tobacco y menthol y flavour and although crap, they did help some smokers to quit ( me included), and there was no epidemic of kids clamouring to get one, so if we limit the flavours to tobacco and menthol we`ll return to the good old days of smokers quitting and no kids getting hooked, so let`s ban all the nasties that get kids hooked and just allow the crap menthol and baccy flavours and fcuk the regular vapers, they`ve quit the weed, they can quit the vapes or go back to the flavours that helped them quit in the first place.
The problem with that logic is that it assumes that vaping can only be used as a quit smoking method and ignores the fact that some adult ex smokers actually enjoy vaping and want to have the choice of what flavours they vape, just like the people who partake of alcohol have the vast choice of beers, wines and spirits. We are adults and should have the choice of how we spend our leisure time.

The 2ml TPD rule is mind numbingly pointless and I don't actually use a 2ml tank, for me the issue is about what's in the juice of illegal disposables.

I would suspect the same juice that's in the legal ones only more of it:)

I’m sure there’s a large number of 2ml disposables that are also illegal…

Well millions of people are buying disposables so I guess they're pretty happy with the flavours.

If this is a quality control issue then where are all the stories or other evidence to say that there is something wrong with what's in them?

You can ask the same question about the batteries. I haven't heard lots of stories of these things blowing up in peoples faces.

To me there is only one issue. The totally unjustifiable mountain of unneccesary waste created by these things when simple reusable pods could easily do the same job. But then, of course, there is far less profit in reusable devices.

Well I can't ever remember seeing one single post on this forum from anyone to say they agree with the 2ml TPD limit so if I am supposed to react with horror I'm just trying to get it straight in my head what I should be horrified about?

Is this simply a matter of saying he shouldn't get away with breaking the rules because all the legit vape sellers all have to comply? . . . Of course he shouldn't, but then none of us agree with the 2ml limit anyway.

Or is this because of the heinous waste of the sheer number of these things being vaped and then just tossed into the gutter and yet we are told we should be horrified at a ban because these things are proven to be the best thing since sliced bread.

There is no case for saving disposables IMO and if they all disappeared tomorrow I wouldn't give a monkeys.

aye there is a strange contradiction, or some kind of cognitive dissonance around disposables and the tpd rules for a lot of folks it seems.

i’ve always supported the idea of disposables being banned, but i think there is also a good argument for limited flavours in pre-filled single use devices only (including the pods). this could easily be done with no interference in flavours available in bottles. to me this would make sense since the throw away shit is what the weans seem drawn to.

although i do think there need to be some sensible rules about packaging and display since some shop keepers and liquid manufacturers don’t seem able to do this.
