I have an abandoned and derelict vamo in my possession and, sat looking at it every day, i am left wondering if I could do something with the carcass to make it a mech mod. My thoughts are that the section above the fire button can be chopped down quite easily to cut the additional height not needed for electronics and either use the original button position with some form of firing system or do something with the end cap that would allow the entire button section to be chopped too.

If I keep the two sections in place I have the ability to go between 18350 and 18650 modes quite easily but realistically I would want to keep this 18350 sized I think for portability..

What would you look at for this type of project? Ideally I would like to incorporate some way to shut the firing off for in the pocket and keep the thing as small as possible.

Pic shows the height difference with the Sigelei 8W on the left and Vamo with just the tubes and end caps both in 18650 mode. The vamo tubes do not fit together properly like this so my thought is that used like this it would need a bottom firing button which would add a few extra mm's but not necessarily too many. That said though it would be really dinky if i managed to do something in 18350 in a similar config.

Below is the same Sigelei 8W in 18350 mode, a UDT-L in the same and next to that, sporting an IGO-L with pointy hat, the Vamech 18350 :) really tiny.

They were dark, my office is underground and I didn't want to use flash ;) They were only to gauge the size really

I would.....

Use the bottom cap as the top cap and add 510 connector.

Make a bottom button thats fixed in place and to access batteries take off top cap.

If done correctly it could be 18350 and 18650 by removing tube!
