Vape Tax.. we all knew it was coming

it would be impossible to prove you don’t use a telly to watch live telly. you have nothing to prove and they have everything to prove.

i think the legal advice is usually tell them to go away and shut the door. you can wave at them out the window. unless you’re watching iplayer, in which case you should shut the curtains :)

I have just been reading up on the TV Licencing and according to what i have read TV Detector Vans never really existed though the BBC have never actually said they do or don't, apparently things that receive transmissions don't give out any signals which btw i have always thought. If a TV was sending out signals then probably you could be detected. You could more than likely be caught if watching TV on a PC though apparently it's hard for them to track your IP Address. This is what i have read in a few articles.

.. something to change how the BBC is funded, like making it a commercial station.
Gonna be interesting to see what happens...

I'm so glad they don't have ads on the BBC (one of the main reasons I watch it).. so the only other option would be paid subscription service (which the TV licence basically is)...

how does that work if you’ve no got a telly?

Live TV means any programme you watch or record as it’s being shown on any channel, TV service or streaming service. It’s not just live events like football, cricket, news and music. It also covers soaps, series, documentaries and even movies.

An online TV service is any streaming or smart TV service, website or app that lets you watch TV programmes over the internet. This includes services like Channel 4, Sky Go, Now, BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and ITVX.

*A licence is not needed to watch S4C programmes on demand.

You could still need a TV Licence if you don’t have a TV
A TV Licence covers you to watch live on any channel, TV service or streaming service, and to use BBC iPlayer*.

This applies to any device, including a TV, computer, laptop, phone, tablet, games console or digital box.

Some of these devices can be powered solely by their own internal batteries. Your home TV Licence will usually cover you to use these away from home.

However, if you’re away from home and plug one of these devices into the mains and use it to watch live on any channel, TV service or streaming service, or to use BBC iPlayer, you need to be covered by a separate TV Licence at that address (unless you’re in a vehicle or vessel like a train, car or boat).

aye, but what i mean is, how can it be right having the telly licence paid for as an extra dunt on the leccy bill, when some people don’t watch the telly, live, streaming or any other kind? they do the same thing in greece. but you don’t sign up as a telly watcher as far as i know, it’s just an added charge on every cunt’s leccy bill.

It's nae right man....they know you will pay yer leccy bill

They’ll justify it like the services included in a council tax bill - parks & subsidised amenities etc. They are there if you want to use them; If you don’t, tough - you still contribute.
Not saying that’s right, it’s the way it is.

The TV licence fee could be abolished and replaced with a new levy on council tax bills, according to a House of Lords committee that looked at the best way to fund the BBC in the future.

Under the proposal, all households would pay for the BBC through their local authority bill, with low-earning families paying less for the broadcaster’s services. This would end the traditional link to owning a television set and ensure that people who only use the BBC’s online or radio services also have to pay to use them

What do the rich and poor all have in common?

TAX EVASION :18:

The worst part: we will whinge and moan a few months after the nic tax comes, and then like all the incremental ways they make us poorer, we’ll forget it and just get on with life :hmm:
