What's new

Yeah bye then Cotton Bacon.... HELLO Muji!

It isn't about the money. Purely the principle. It is also about resources, how much more waste is caused by that fancy packaging? I got into vaping to save money and I have. I also firmly believe that cheapest is not always the best choice. So it irks me that companies are claiming to make a superior product and are really just selling the same stuff in a better packet at a criminal markup. If the product was actually better then I would happily pay the premium.

I don’t think it is the same stuff though.

I swear muji burns quicker than cotton bacon. 4 days versus 7 for me. Kendo lasts even longer sometimes but takes longer to become fully absorbent (primer puffs gets round that though for the first half hour of use) but.....whatever

Just got an email response from Muji regarding their non bleached cotton pads. I wasn't sure if it was organic as it doesn't state on the website. But sellers on ebay etc claim it is organic, muji have confirmed it is not organic.

I’ve been trying to tell people muji is not organic for ages @Rosho , but nobody cares apart from @Simon G and @mattyk2010 . These ebay resellers etc are deliberately mislabelling it. People should just buy labo puffs and steer clear of muji, they are cheaper anyway.

I was just about to say that I've not read the thread but I would be very surprised if @zouzounaki hasn't told you it's not organic already. :D

... it's all very confusing at to what is best to use from a safety perspective though, we just don't know really.

I use organic cotton because I'm aware and concerned about the chemicals used in non-organic cotton farming... however if it's bleached and cleaned properly it might be safer than organic. Bleach is a scary word because we think of household bleach but I'm sure there are much less toxic/non-toxic bleaching and stripping agents that are probably used. If it's not organic and not bleached like Muji that could be a bad thing ... who knows, not me.. I don't mind admitting.

... and the 'specialist vaping cottons' I have no idea, they are secretive about their supposedly 'special processes' and some make very wild claims about burn resistance and other properties that don't seem to relate to natural cotton. None of them that I'm aware of claim to be organic either.

I wish someone would actually test all these cottons properly.

Actually @Simon G household bleach (chlorine based) might be much less problematic - because it evaporates very quickly - than the industrial bleaching agents that i suspect they do use (peroxide etc). Just my speculations, as you say we don’t really know and have to make a decision based on or own deduction.

It's odd that it's an area nobody seems to care about ... all this concern over what's in e-liquids and metals for coils and whatever but nobody seems to know anything about what's used being as wicking.
