Also temperature affects wicking I've noticed. Esp with my top coilers. The liquid kind of solidifies in the cotton till it's warned up so I imagine it'll be the same inside a tank. Just my thoughts, no expert

You're spot on with this. Where I am we have cold winters and very warm summers. So in the winter I usually DTL with 60/40 liquid, sometimes I even need 50/50. But in the summer, I'm closer to 85-90%VG, if my mix will allow it.
